I have again made a valuation of the assets of the Chatham Building Society. The balance of profit certified by the auditors is £ "16,777 to this I have added the value of deferred premiums £ "4034, and the balance of contingent reserve account, and interest in arrears 6371-inakiiig a total 621,182, or £13,962, after deducting the dividend of 7 per cent. and all expenses to date. At the end of 1865 the reserve of premiums was £ "820 in excess of the required amount; in 1866, dis- counting at the same rate of investment, the excess was Z2077 and this year it is £ "2461, indicating a steady improvement.
