CHURCH DEFENCE AND THE TRUST DEED OF THE CALVINISTIC METHODISTS. To the Editor of the Free Press. Sir, SacerdOB," in his first letter, quoted para- graph 8 of the Trust Deed as containing the Rev Canon West s quotation in support of his statement. I pointed out that the Rev Canon's quotation was a violent distortion of that paragraph. In my first letter the second clause of the Deed was quoted in full, and refuted the Rev Canon's assertion. Sacerdos," in your last issue, for the second time garbles that same clause by quoting certain words, and leaving out other important words and the qualifying sentence,44 according to the meaning now ascribed to the said Doctrinal Articles and the said catechism by Calvinists and Poedo-Baptists." I did not contend that it was necessary to repeat them, but in a legal docu- ment like the Trust Deed it is necessary to state them one way or the other. The Confession of Faith is fully stated, in a schedule to the Deed, and not the Articles, as I have already stated.
