The Indian Office has received a telegram from General Baker announcing his arrival at Kushi on the afternoon of the 24th iust. British force encamped on high ground overlooking the village. Supplies plentiful. All quiet and well. DISTURBANCES AT CRETE. The Province of Melipotamos, Crete, is in a state of virtual insurrection, consequent upon the refusal of the authorities to punish the Turk who assassinated a Christian. Three hundred Christians, after demanding justice, seized a rich Turk as hostage. Great excitement prevails in Crete. Bank rate unaltered.
