CARDIFF EXCHANGE.
CARDIFF EXCHANGE. BUTE DOCKS. TnuasDAX. On 'Change there was more activity than there has been for acme days past, and although the demand for our staples is nothing like what it was a few weeks ago, the lull appears to be slowly passing away. Steam co«. was in steady demand, and there was a fair inquiry for all descriptions of bituminous coal, both large and email. Patent fuel was moderately 6rm at last prices, but for pitwood the quotations were unchanged, and the market: unimproved. In car local freight market to-day, chartering for steam tonnage has been exceptionally active, more especially for the higher .Mediterranean and Spanish porta, and a large business has been eifect.ed. Rites for this diteetion continue moderately nrm. Spanish, Gibraltar, and Bay port freichM steady. Eastern freights very depressed. Baltic, coasting, and Stares outward quotations remain unchanged. Sail.—There is iittie new movement to report cither in outward or homeward freights. The demand for tills clas4 "f tonnage to load for the River Phtte, Brazd.s, West Indies, and West GlQst of America atiti continues, and for these employments good paying rates may be obtained. Homeward business from the nitrate and wood ports continues active, and quotations for the United K'ngdom and continent remain strong, especially for forward tonnage. Ore.—Kates from Bilbao continue steadYJ with a fair demand for tonnage to load for ports in the Bristot Channel. There was also a steady inquiry for promot boats from Benisaf, Carthagena, alld Huelva. From IarbeUa, Elba, and Alazurron there is stiil very little doing; other Mediter- ranean ore quotations remain unaltered.
