¡ MONEY MARKET. LONDON, Monday. There was some little demand, but no pressure for money to-day in connection with the Stock Exchange settlement, Fair supplies of cash were I avauaci?, and easy races were quoted. Banks charged the house at the rate of 3 to 3i per cent. per annum for a fortnight. Short loans were worth about 1 to 1 per cent. Discounts were puiet, three months' bills being taken at 2 per cent., and shorter dated paper at II per cent. Paris Cheque Exchange is 25.27 Berlic, short, 20 31. On the Stock Exchange scarcely anything has been passing bey >nd tbo settlement, but the ten- dency was stronsr. Gen. Bouiangfer'selection having been looked upon as secure, the actual announce- ment had no effect. The markets mostly gained in strength, closing prices in the majority of instances comparing favourably with Saturday. Owing to the pient.iui supply oi money, carryiug- over rates were easy. CARDIFF EXCHANGE. I BUTE DOCKS, MONDAY, I There was a good average attendance on 'Change to-day. The demand for steam coal was again very brisk, current quotations for all descriptions ruling very firm. There was also a good business done in house coal, at Saturday's prices. Welsh cok is were in good request, and a similar remark applies to bituminous small coal and patent fuel. In our local freight market to- day, chartering for steam has been moderately I active, and an average amount of business, more especially for the higher Mediterranean ports, has been effected. Rates for this direction continue quiet, and a similar remark applies to Bay ports, Spanish, and Gibraltar rates. West Indian rates were weak. Outward quotations to the States remain unchanged. The following comprise the latest oparations :— Algiers, 13 res., fuel (Bramah) Genoa, lis, 400 delivery (Hel^n Otto) Port Said, lis (Asia) Marseilles, lljfcs., (Beilcairn) and allain at same rate for (lolo Morganwg); Genoa, ils, 400 delivery (Sacrobosco) Malta. 9s 10d, cption Genoa, lis 4d (Homer) Port Said, 11s, for steamer name unascertained. Sail.-B,Itrket continues in active condition with good demand for this class of tonnage for next month's loading. Rates for the River Plate and Brazils ruled firm, and the same remark apuiies to Cape and West Indian freights. Baltic rates were steady. Coasting quiet. Mediterranean quotations remain unchanged. The following iizture has been reported for South Wales loading :—Imbetiba, 30-, 450 vessel. Ore.-Rates from Bilbao continue firm, with good demand for prompt tonnage to load for the Bristol Channel. There is also a steady demand from Carthagena and Huelva for next month's shipment to the continent and the East and West coasts of the United Kingdom.
WRECKS AND CASUALTIES. (SPECIAL TELEGRAMS FROM LLOYD'S AGENTS. I The British barque Zulette. from Shields, outward bound with coals, has arrived at the Motherbank, near Portsmouth, with damage to bulwarks, having been in collision. A telegram horn Bordeaux states that the steamer Scheidt, from Cardiff, with a cargo of coal, grounded on her way no the river, and remains. The Biitish steamer Memling, partly laden with maize, totally lost near Mazagan. Crew saved. The steamer Shark, from Irvme, with coals, went ashore in Newry itiver during a fog on Sunday.
