DAMAGES MORE THAN CLAIM. At the Bloorasbury County-court an applica- tion was made in respect of a esse in which a coachman who sued Lord Eesiduorough was award-ed £ 100 damages for injuries sustained in an accident in which his lordship's motor-ear was concerned. The amount of his claim ( £ 50) had, in accord- ance with the practice, not been stated to the' jury, and counsel argued that the amount awarded/was excessive. I Judge Bacon referred to a celebrated case in which the award was £ 500 more than had been claimed, and asked a number of counsel before him for the reference, which was given. His Honour Ah I thought some of you boys ought to know. The judge decided that the verdict must •tandi,. and dismissed the application with costs.
