WALES AND THE FLAG. Editor of the LONDON WELSHMAN AND KELT. SIR,-It must assuredly be a matter for general regret that the Principality has so far, received but scant recognition in the way of representation on the national flag of Great Britain, the Union Jack." Undoubtedly, Wales, of all countries, should be so represented, seeing that its people are the descen- dants of the Cymry, the original race of Britain, and have contributed not a little to the present greatness of the British Empire. To a glorious race, from whose source have sprung Glyndwr, Cromwell, Milton, Wellington, Picton, and Raglan, men who have so vividly upheld the historic traditions of the Cymry, the least recognition that could, in justice, be made. lies in the Red Dragon finding a well-deserved place on the national flag. Nothing could be more appropriate than that the standard of their unconquered forefathers should still be floating over the Wales of to-day. The respective claims of Ireland and Scotland to be treated on an equality with their Saxon neigh- bour have been fully recognised, while Gallant Little Wales has to be content with the "honour" of a mere incorporation with England It is to be hoped that Welsh representation, in the above respect, will not be allowed by the Powers that be to rest indefiitely, as has, unfortunately, been the case in the past. I am, dear Sir, Yours faithfully, S. TREVOR JONES.
