Notes and News. THE immortal memory of St. David was honoured by Welshmen ,in all parts of the globe during the past week. LONDON was visited by an unusually heavy fall of snow on St. David's Day. The black city, for once in a way, looked beauti- fully white. ARE our Welsh M.P.'s patriots? Only a small number of them took part in St. David's Day celebrations! IT is admitted that St. David was a thurough Welshman, yet the universal custom is to celebrate his memory in a thorough Saxon fashion, by feasting and singing patriotic songs. THE Right Hon. D. Lloyd George was present at a Welsh national concert at Castle Street last Saturday and delivered a short address on patriotism. Our modern David is as keen a Welshman as the St. David of old, but being a Nonconformist, we cannot canonise him just yet THE Cymmrodorion Society had a special Welsh night on Friday last when Professor J. Morris Jones delivered an excellent address on the life and works of Tudur Aled. Mr. Ellis J. Griffith, M.P., presided, and all the addiesses were delivered in Welsh. MR. J. H. DAVIES, M.A., Registrar of the Aberystwyth College, has a unique collection of the works of Tudur Aled. It is hoped that at an early date Mr. Davies will be able to publish a complete edition of the works of the famous old poet, of whom the average student of Welsh literature knows but very little. THE other day a CELT correspondent came across a little book printed in the year 1814, by Samuel Williams, of Aberystwyth, en- titled Flangell i'r rhai sy'n caru yr agwedd anmharchedig o eistedd wrth ganu clod i Dduw." The book was written by Adelphos." It appears that in that period it was the habit of many members of chapel congregations to retain their seats during the singing, and Adelphos chastises the offenders in cutting phraseology. MR. DAVID DAVIES, M.P., has been elected vice-chairman of the Cambrian Railways Company.
