SPEAKING at the Swansea Welsh Society's Dewi Sant dinner, Prof. Levi, of Aber- ystwyth, said that the old preachers of Wales were the country's heroes. They always heard the people talk lovingly of Taliesyn anwyl," Christmas Evans anwyl," and so on, but where had they heard them speak of "y cyfreithiwr anwyl" (laughter). MR. DAVID THOMAS, Mus. Bac., the com- poser of Llyn-y-fan," which was produced at the National Eisteddfod at Swansea last year, received his degree of M.A. at Oxford this week. He is a native of Pontardulais. DR. WESTLAKE MORGAN, the well-known organist of Bangor Cathedral, has been ap- pointed organist of the historic church of St. Bride, Fleet Street. It was at this church that the late Dr. Turpin was organist, and it is a high compliment to our countryman to be appointed as successor to so eminent a musician.
