For some years we have urged the advantages of laying in Winter st<rck at the present, season. Those of our clients who have taken this advice have always benefited, and last year saved at least FOUR SHILLINGS PER TON. by purchasing early instead of delaying until August or September. The several recent advances in miners' wages, to- gether with the MENACE OF AN EIGHT1 HOURS BILL, positively prohibit lower figures being offered than those now quoted. Indeed, on account of the IMMENSE INCREASE, IN FOREIGN EXPORTS OF COAL, we firmly believe prices will rise con- siderably as the season advance. THE EASTER HOLIDAYS.
THE EASTER HOLIDAYS. WHERE, TO GO. WHAT TO SEE. Even the retirement of Sir Henry Camp- bell Bannerman and the formation of a new Government is of minor interest to the vast majority of those who live in in- dustrial centres when compared with the all important question as to where the Easter Holidays shall be spent. no vacation at Eastertide is1 probably one of the most important of the year, coming as it does after a long dreary winter and heralding the, alpproa,ch of the long sunny days, of early summer. At Llandudno the number of visitors is confidently expected to exceed even last year's record from the number of inquiries received at hotels, hydros, and boarding houses. Bookings have been exceedingly heavy during the past few weeks, and at several establishments every available room has been taken. The pro- gramme of entertainments, as will. be seen by the detailed list given below, is of a most compreihensive and varied character. This evening (Thursday) the Pier Con- cert Season will open, when Miss Lucy Nuttall, the Ipromising young contralto, who won golden opinions from her audiences last autumn, will be the vocalist, and ,at the special concert on Saturday evening Miss Cecile, Brani, one of the principal vocalists at Covent Gar- den Opera, during four seasons, in French, Italian, and German Opera, and who appeared as Mercedes at Windsor Castle in "Carmen, with Madame Colne and Madame Eiames. On April 17th and 21st to 24th, Mr Denbigh Cooper, who has proved himsedf so popular a vocalist, is programmed. "Is Marriage a Failure," a farcical comedy in three acts, is to be presented at the Grand Theatre on Saturday, April 18th, -and the Monday, Tuesday and Wed- nesday following. This play comes fro n Terry's Theatre, where it had a very suc- cessful run, and presented by an excellent company, should prove an attractive "bill of fare" at the Grand. At the Prince's- Theatre a Musical Eisteddfod is announced! for Good Fri- day evening, and on Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday., "Sapho" will be ,staged, this to be followed on Thursday by a three nights' performance, of that favourite comedy, "In the Soup." The Pier Varieties is a favourite resort with a large number of visitors, and for the holidays a special series of most realistic pictures have been arranged. Those who delight in the exhilarating pastime of skating have the opportunity afforded at the new skating ring, which was formerly Rivieres Hall. 'The crowds which daily repair to, the rink have surprised even the management, and it is certain that Llandudno's latest attrac- tion will be as -popular with visitors as with residents. Given fine weather coaching will be as attractive as of yore, and the Llandudno Coaching Comjpany's tours will include daily excursions to such favourite beauty spots as Bettwisycoed, Penmaenmawr, and other places of interest in the district. A special list of trips, ha,s been arranged' by the Llandudno Motor Garage Com- pany with their motor charabancs. These will include the Abergilaslyn Loop, the LllaI)jhe'l'is Loop, the Bethesda Loop, and Bettwsycoed. Again this year the- Liverpool and North Wales ,steamship Company will bring passengers from Liverpool to Llandudno daily during the holidays, and later pro- ceed to the Menai Straits, a trip that will be much patronised under favourable climatio conditions. Trams to the summit of tihei Great Orme will run every few minutes-, a means of reaching this fine old headland which is much appreciated. To golfers using the Great Orme Links this tramway is -a real boon. On the links at the West Shore visitors will also be able to obtain excel- lent games, the greens being in perfect condition. A new Bowling Green has been made, and will be open for practice on Good Friday. This ground, which should be well patronised, is now located on the Recreation Ground, Gloddaeth Street. Holiday engagements have also been entered into by the Llandudno Amateur Football Club and the Llandudno Hockey Olub.

-----A MEAN THEFT BY LLANDUDNO,…
A MEAN THEFT BY LLANDUDNO, MEN. A KIND ACT ILL-REQUITED. At a. brpecial Police Court on Saturday morning, before Mr J. Adey Wells and Mr Wm. Bevan, Richard Owen, John Henry Atherton, and William Brookes were charged with stealing jointly -a horse rug valued] -at 20s., the property of Wil- liam John Williams, ,c,aririer, Bethesda. Inspector Owen conducted the case for the prosecution. John Hughes, carter, Bethesda, said that on Wednesday, the 8th inst., he was coming to Llandudno, with a lurry to con- vey P, load of furniture to Bethesda. When he waisi near Llanrhos he met the three defendants, who asked him for a lift, which he gave them. Richard Owen sat beside him on the box, and the other two sat at the back. When the prisoners got on the lurry the rug was under a coil of rope, but on arriving' at his destination in King's Road he at once saw it was not there. He asked prisoners if they had seen it, but they all said they had not. Not being able to find the rug he went with Brookes to stable the horse, while the other two. men started to load the lurry. The stable they went to being full up Brookes and he returned, intending to turn the horse out into a field. Another search was made for the rug, but again in vain. Brookes: From the time we got on until we reached King's Road did any of us get off the lurry? Witness: No. Brookes How was it possible for us to take it without leaving the lurry? Wi tness I could not say. Robert Edward Teer, cabdriver, Alex- andra Road, said he bought the rug from Richard Owen on Thursday for five shil- lings. Atherton was with Owen when the matter was first discussed. Owen in- formed him that he had found the rug three months previously on the Conway Road. In reply to Inspector Owen, witness said he bad satisfied himself that the story was true. P.C. B-oss deposed that from informa- tion received he in company with Sergt. Jones took Owen into custody, and he in. reply to the charge said, "Yes., I sold it. I found it in King's Road after the lurry had gone. We were three together and shared the money." Later on Atherton was arrested. His reply was, "I know nothing about it, only that it was found a-t Ffos F'awr, Trinity s,treet, and that Richard, Owen had it in his house for three months. Brookes on being arrested said,, "It is the first time I have seen it." All three prisoners- pleaded not guilty, and decided to have the case tried that day. Richard Owen and Wm. Brookes gave evidence on oath, but Atherton would not do so. Richard Owen said the rug was picked up after the lurry had gone by either Atherton or Brookes, and that he sold it and shared the money with the other two. In reply to the Chairman, he said he dd not know why he told Teer he had found it three, months previously, only that he wanted to sell it. Brookes on being sworn denied having participated in the proceeds, but Atherton in reply to the Chairman confirmed Owen's version. After Tetiring for a few moments Mr Wells said they found the charge clearly proved, and sentenced each to one month's hard labour. Addressing Brookes, he said the magistrates had more than once triod to help- him, but it, seemed of no use. He would advise him to leave the town and make a, new start. Brookes, Thank you, sir. Atherton was then charged with being drunk on licensed premises on March 4th and reiusing to quit when requested to do so. He pleaded guilty, and was fined 2s. 6d. and costs with the alternative, of seven da-ys' imprisonment.
