ON WAY NIUNICIPAI- ELECTION, iglo. TO THE ELECTORS. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, At the unanimous request of a verv large number of influential Ratepayers, we have con- sented to become Candidates at the forthcoming Election. If elected, we pledge ourselves to use every means possible to ensure the return to our Borough of the Territorial Encampments, which we unhesitatingly believe to be of vital import- ance, particularly to those Ratepayers who are in any way dependent for their livelihood upon the prosperity of the Borough. We very much deplore the serious loss the Borough has already sustained in consequence of the withdrawal of the Encampments, and we are determined that any obstacle which has been placed in the way of the continuation of the Encampments shall be at once removed. It is very apparent that there is a tendency on the part of some of the members of the Town Council, when dealing with estimates for work to be done within the Borough, to give prefer- ence to Contractors and others who are resident outside the Borough, and are consequently non- Ratepayers. This is grossly unjust, and you may rely that if elected we will use our best endeavours to see that Contractors and others resident within the Borough are given fair play. We are of opinion that the Tram wav should be extended from Liandudno to Deganwv, in accordance with the powers granted to the Com- pany, and if elected we shall bring all pressure possible upon the Company to forthwith carrv out its undertakings. We are not satisfied with the attempt that is being made to popularise our Fairs, and we will do our utmost to establish a Mart or Smithfield within the Borough. It is with pleasure that we find a movement is on foot to obtain the control of the Local Fisheries, and the same has our cordial sup- port. In addition thereto, the question of reduction of the Railway Company's rates or charges will have our attention. If elected, we should consider it our duty to have a Committee appointed to go into the question of the aforesaid railway rates, and if necessary to have a deputation to wait upon the London and North-Western Railway Company with a view to having an improved passenger train service for Conway. There are many other issues that we would desire to refer to, but we think that the PUBLIC MEETING we propose to hold on Monday next at D<, gar. jv, and on FRIDAY, at 8 p.m., at the CO-NWAY TOW-N HALL, will afford us an op- portunity of further explaining our views. Your undivided interest and support at the Poll on ilF.SD.U NEXT is respectfully re- quested. We are. Ladies and Gentlemen, I-our, obediently, JOHN OROSSFIELD J. W. HUGHES T.
