Notes and News. Dr. W. Chapman and Mr. C. M. Alexander, the well-known missioners, are visiting Merthyr this week under the auspices of the local Free Church Council. It is doubtful whether these periodical missions by pro- fessional missioners effect any lasting good. In its "Financial Notes" a South Wales newspaper remarks: American Rails are flat." Football is again in full swing in South Wales, and this season there appears to be a tendency towards increased interest and bigger attendances. At Cardiff the Associa- tion game is rapidly supplanting the Rugby code in popular interest. A very fine association ground in which 35,000 people can be accommodated has been laid out, and at last Saturday's Southern League match between the newly-formed Cardiff City team and Ton (Rhondda) there were nearly 10,000 spectators.
