According to reports received from the Principality, the last scheme of public im- portance that is to be considered by the newly-constituted Read Board will be that of the Cardiganshire and Breconshire County Councils' scheme for improving and widen- ing the road from Tregaron to Abergwessm. For this a grant in aid is to be applied for, and the road, when constructed, will be of great service to motorists and motor traffic, for it passes through one of the most romantic parts of Wales and connects two systems of railways, viz., that of the and L. & N.W.R. It is now generally understood in well- informed circles that the war council" of the Welsh Parliamentary Party at its next meeting will consider the letter recently issued to the Press by the Rev. John Thickens. The form of punishment sugges- ted will undoubtedly be confinement sine die in Carnarvon Castle (of which Mr. Lloyd George is constable), and his only hope of release will be wholly dependent on the King's decision with regard to the Investi- ture of the Prince at that historic fortress. Sir Melville Beachcroft, a brother-in-law of Mr. Bonnor Maurice, of Bodynfoel, and the Rev. C. Silvester Home have joined the Lord Mayor of London's King Edwaid Memorial Committee. The Inquiry Committee appointed by the Denbigh Boroughs Liberal Council are still pursuing their labours in reference to a candidate for the boroughs. No authorita- tive statement has yet been issued as to any candidates who may be willing to stand. Mr. W. D. Harbinson, an Irish barrister, who is included in the list of candidates, was in Wrexham last week interviewing some of the Liberal leaders.

In that growing neighbourhood they ought to have an art school to teach children that there was after all something more important even than making money. Let those who had the artistic gift have the chance of developing it. He believed that the art exhibition proved a great advantage not only to the Eisteddfod but to the neigh- bourhood where it was held, and he expressed the hope that that at Colwyn Bay would be a great success.
