A CORRESPONDENT writes: A good deal has been written as to the King honouring labour' by knighting Mr. Crossman, a Cardiff labour Councillor. The fact is, Mr. Grossman happened to be Lord Mayor during the King's visit, and so got knighted. The King knighted Mr. Crossman as The Lord Mayor of Cardiff,' and not as a special compliment to labour,' as so many writers have erroneously stated." BY the way, the Welsh element is in- creasing in Cardiff. There was a time when London was the invariable Mecca of thou- sands of Welsh people from the rural dis- tricts, but within the last couple of years Cardiff is also being looked upon as a favour- able spot. There is considerably more Welsh spoken in Cardiff to-day than was the case four or five years ago.
