Football. BY SPECTATOR." ASSOCIATION. On Christmas morning the Aberdare Thursdays met the Jubilee Rovers at the New Athletic Grounds, the proceeds of the gate being given to W. Powell, and a member of the Rovers' eleven, who unfortunately broke his leg earlier in the season. The Darians were un. able to put out their full strength. Percy Gardner, Rees James and Josh Woollacotte being absentees. Referee. Mr Lewis, Aberaman. Ivor Davies opened the scoring with a high shot which the goalie failed to reach Half time score, Aberdare, 1 goal Rovers, nil. In the second half the homesters had much the better of exchanges, and had they put on a little more exertion would have beaten the defence on more than one occasion. Harry Williams made some beautiful tricky ruils but his passes to Cliff Brain were spoilt by the ball sticking in the mud. Another attack by the Darians looked like a certain goal but the ball was handled by Harry Williams. To the surprise of the players the referee awarded Aberdare a penalty. The penalty, however, was not given for handling, but for jumping at the Thursday forward, the latter offence happening before Harry Williams had accidentally knocked down the ball with his hand. Tom Price, who has the full confidence of his captain in such matters, planted the* ball far out of the reach of the helpless custodian. A pleasant game ended in favour of -the Thursdays by two goals to nil. 000 WESTERN LEAGUE. On Christmas afternoon, Bath pro- vided the senior team with the opposi- tion. Mr. Neale, of Bristol, officiated. Before a few minutes had elapsed Hop. kins beat Tyler. T. D. Jones equalised. Toswell, the new centre, scored a beauty. After the "interval the young inter- national put his side in a safe position. Bowell soon after added the fourth point. A corner fell to Aberdare, and the place kick was a most accurate one, Toswell turning it into the net. The sixth was scored after a great dribble by the new man. Just before time was called, Tos- well gently tapped the sphere into a snug resting place. Final score Aberdare 7 goals, Bath 1 goal. The directors must congratulate themselves on their latest capture. He is coolness personified, and does not allow himself to be easily hustled off the ball. 'Tis a pity that Bowell has got into the bad habit of holding on to the ball so long, otherwise he is a glutton for work. Goodwin and Joe Lewis were in fine form, while the halves, Cox especially, seldom allowed the opposing front line to get into proper working order. 000 On Boxing Day Builth Wells played at the New Athletic Grounds. White of Kingswood was expected to have a trial but he and Tippett lost the train connec- tion at Cardiff. Referee. Mr. Jarman, Cwmbach. Aberdare started with nine men, Billy Milk and Bowell arriving ten minutes late, Edwards, of the Reserves, played left half. The homesters with only three forwards attacked hotly and 'T.D.' got home No. 1. Bowell and the Thursday boy now arrived and the former beat the goalman with a long oblique drive. Toswell with a good run made no mistake about finding the aperture. 000 In the second half Joe Lewis played inside left to Farrington. Billy Milk figuring at centre half, and Tom Daniel partnered Alf Goodwin. Joe Lewis breaking away dribbled close in and drawing ont the Builth custodian easily netted. The fifth goal came from a beautifully placed corner by Sam Far- rington, Bowell diverting it into the net. Billy Thomas revelled in the mud and surprised the visitors by popping up when least expected. D. H. Edwards, the other reserve, performed creditably, and appears to have the making of a fine half. Final score: Aberdare 5 goals, Builth Wells nil. BY "WANDERER." On Christmas Day the Robertstown Eleven visited Llwydcoedv W. Jones opened the score in Llwydcoed's favour with a good cross kick. Before the interval Dan Davies, Hy. John Davies and D. Jenkin Jones added to the score. The visitors displayed better combina- tion in the second moiety and netted through Dally and Rees. W. Jones and Dan Davies added to the score of the leaders. Final score, Llwydcoed 6 goals, Robertstown 2 goals. 000 A meeting of the Aberdare and Dis- trict Juuior A.F.C. League was held at the Lamb and Flag Inn, Aberaman, on Wednesday evening, Mr W. Bressington presiding. The Aberdare Rovers were admitted into the league. The transfer of W.
