The fluid drenched his clothes, burning them and slightly injuring him in one hand. What do you. mean by this ?" lie stammered out as soon as he couid recover him- self. The woman looked at him, and screamed. Good heavens," she exclaimed, "1 have made a mistake!" She was profuse in her apologies, but M. Voisin naturally thought that there are cases where apologies are hardly sufficient, and that this was one of them. On being given into custody, the woman explained that she had mistaken her victim for a man who, after living with her, had deserted her and her two children.
