8TUBDY. NOVEMBER 5, 1898. LLANTRISANT SCHOOL BOARD ONCE AGAIN. LAST week educational work kept us from the office, and we had no1 opportunity of perusing Mr Daniel Thomas' letter before Saturday night. We are glad to find that Mr Thomas has written in a finer spirit than some of the reperts of the Llantrisant School Board have revealed his actions at its meetings. Mr Thomas has taken upon himself the whole responsibility of the Board's unenviable reputation. He generously accepts the entire responsi- bility for the bull fight scenes in the Board meetings. It is good of him to take the whole popular control" burdens upon his own shoulders. As a private member of the Board he has taken a large order. We criticised the Board in its corporate capacity. Individually, equally responsible. Our friend, how- ever, takes upon himself the entire onus of all the unsavoury notoriety whioh has been identified with the recent history of the Board. We took up the report of Mrs David to show that the failure of the Gilfach Infant School to reach the highest graat could not be laid wholly at the teacher's door. We should like Mr Thomas to explain why has the Board allowed the structural recommendations of the Department to go year by year by default ? Can he claim that in the case of the Gilfach School the Board has been equal to its duty ? We venture to say that Mrs David's part of the report is the better part, and yet this lady is hauled up for what the Board thinks are her deficiencies, while it winks at its own unexecuted administrations criticised in I the eh, TI1 we give him every credit, educational ze*j; wishes progress toward the highe^ of efficiency.
