ANFFYDDIAETH CYMRU.
ANFFYDDIAETH CYMRU. Y mae ilawer o siarad ad t^^rifehu y dyddiau hyn fod Cymru yn. myned yn ddiystyr o bethau crefyddol ac fod anffyddiaeth yn lhvyddo. Ac nid yw y cyhunddiad yn gyfyngedig i Gymru; honir yr un fath ara wledydd ereill. Y mae yn ddiamheu fod peth gwirionedd n yr hyn a ddy- wedir, ond nid yr aOlios yw gwybodaeth oleu- ach yr oes fel y myna gwrthwynebwyr crefydd i ni feddwl; eithr aflywodraeth crefyddol yn codi oddiar yr annhrefn anocheladwy sydd yn cymeryd lie yn y cyfamsea- rhwng dymchweliad yr hen ac adeiladaeth y newydd. Mae Cymru, fel pob gwlad arall, wedi tynu i lawr yr hen p-vfeirbostiau a bwyntiasant y ffordd i'r nefoedd iddi am gvnifer o flynyddoedd, ac a'i cadwodd yn llwybr uniondeb; a chan nad yw ei gweled- iad yn ddigon clir i ganfod v rhai newyddion y mae gwybodaeth eangach %i-ofiad dyfnach wedi ei godi i fyny y mae wedi syrthio i annhrefn a phenrhyddid crefyddol, ac wedi myned yn ddi- gred, yn ddifater, ac yn anmharchus o bethau dwyfol. Nid dylanwad gwybodaeth yw hwn,ond dylanwad diffyg gwybodaeth-diffy gwybodaeth gymhwys i gyfarfod a'r amgylchiadau newydd- ion. Pe buasai Cymru wedi gweled yr adeilad newydd, mwy gwych, a chadarnach mae gwy- bodaeth wedi ei ddarparu ar ei chyfer cyn iddi ymadael a thynn i lawr yr hen, buasai yn symud o'r naiU i'r Hall heb ddim aflywodraeth sydd yn ei nodweddu yn bresenol. 0 Nid vw yr amgylchiadau y mae Cymru yn- ddynt, fodd bynas'. yn neillduol mewn hanes- iaeth, ac nid oes dim ynddynt yn argoeli fod crefydd ar ddarfod. Yn mhob oes o'ir byd y mae amgylchiadau tebyg yn nodweddiadol o'r cyfnodau hyny yn y rhai v cymerodd cyfnewid- iadau le. Achosodd y Diwygiad Protestanaidd ddyryswch mawr yn y byd; oollodd dynion eu penau am ysbaid hir, gofldiwyd y saint yn ddir- fawr, a magwyd litt o heriticiaid. Ond daeth pethau i drefn drachefn yn mhen amser, ac i well trefn hefyd. Ti-a yr oedd y cyfnewidiad a ysgubodd ymaith ruibenaethdod ac a sefydlodd weriniaeth yn cymeryd lie, teyrnasai dychryn ac arswyd yn Ffrainc, ac ansefydlogrwydd barn ac anmliarch o bobpeth nodweddai gymeriad y werin. Nid (liffyg crefydd oedd achos y dyrys- weh yn ystod y Diwygiad, ond anghymwysder y bobl i fanteisio ar yr egwvddorion newyddion oedd wedi dyfod i'r wyneb. Nid diffyg yn yr g egwyddor o l-yddid achosodd devrnasiad dyohryn yn Ffrainc, ond anaddfedrwydd y bobl i ryddid; ac nid diffyg crefydd sydd yn peri anffyddiaeth yn Nghymru heddyw, ond anmharodrwydd Cymru i dderbyn y ffeithiau newyddion y mae crefydd yn ddadblygiad wedi eu dadguddio.Nid oes achos 0t'ni fod crefydd ar ddarfod, fod ei dydd wedi myned heibio. Daw pethau i drefn etc, ac i well trefn, a gwelir crefydd yn fwy yn ei dylanwad nag erioed. Y mae y gwirionedd i lwyddo, ae iiis gall anwadalwch ac anwybodaeth d3ii,a elianiatau y gwaethaf, ond hwyhau ychvdig ar' fuddugoliaeth. Modern Martyr in Wales.
Modern Martyr in Wales. At Wannarlwydd, South Wales, a village near Swansea, lives Mr James George, whose fame has travelled far and wide. A representative of the "South Wales Daily Post," told off to interview him, writes :—When I went to see James George, it was a brother, Phillip George, whom I encountered at first, and he was willing to give me the fullest informa- tion. "My brother," he said, "has been a great sufferer for two or three years. It began with a severe cold, then followed indigestion and other ills, until from being a hale and active man, he sank until most of his time was spent cowering near the fire. I read of a similar case to his having been cured by taking Dr Williams' Pink Pills for Pale People, and got him a box. Very soon we saw an improvement. He began to eat better, could get about a little, and by the time he had got through the second box he was as vigorous and active as ever. Those potat.oes-- pointing to a heap of two or three loads-were dug up by him, and a sick man could hardly do that, could he?" At that moment Mr Jame George, the subject of the conversation, entered the house, and, con- firming his brother's statement, said he had de- rived such benefit from Dr Williams' Pink Pills that he willingly consented to have his experi- ence published. "For two years," he said, "I was simply a martyr to indigestion. I could not look at food, and seemed to be losing the use of my limbs. My brother brought me a box of Dr Williams' Pink Pills, and from the first time of taking them I commenced to feel relief. Soon I could move about, and when I had used the second box I could work in the garden, and move about as actively as ever." The appetite of Mr George was also stimulated by the pills to such an extent that his son said it was equal to two people's. Dr Williams' Pink Pills are famous for the cure of indigestion and liver troubles, anaemia, rheumatism, weak heart, scrofula, consumption, and chronic erysipelas. They restore pale and sallow complexions to the glow of health, and are also a splendid nerve and spinal tonic, having cured many cases of paralysis, locomotor ataxy, neuralgia, St. Vitus' dance, and nervous headache. They are sold by chemists, and by Dr Williams' Medicine Com- pany, 46, Holborn-viaduct, London, at 2s 9d a box, or six for 13s 9d, but are genuine only with Full Name, Dr Williams' Pink Pills for Pale People. These Pills are not like other medicine, and their effects are permanent. ♦
Judge Cwilym Williams
Judge Cwilym Williams ON "RESPECTABLE FUNERALS." His Honour, Judge Gwiiym Williams, had before him at the Porth County Court on Fri- day a case in which Sarah Davies and Sons brought an action against Mary Jane Cook, Wil- liamstown, Rhondda Valley, to recover R21 15s, alleged to be due to them for goods supplied to her deceased husband. Mr W. R. Davies, Pontypridd, appeared for the plaintiffs, who were grocers and drapers, and Mr Thomas Phillips, Treorky, for the de- fendant. The evidence for the plaintiffs showed that the defendant had received after her husband's death, which took place on the 11th July, £35 from various Friendly Societies. Mr Phillips said the money had been expended in connection with the burial. Defendant was entitled to have a respectable funeral for her husband. r His Honour did not know what Mr Phillips meant by "respectable funeral." At a recent court at Ystrad he (the Judge) commented upon the extravagance of people in funerals. They must have grand dresses when they went to funerals, and also hearses and coaches. He knew exactly what a respectable funeral of a workman was in that district, and he also knew what a repulsive funeraJ was. Defendant in her evidence stated that she was a widow when she married deceased 11 years ago. He 'had no furniture, and the little she had had been paid for. He died in July last. Mr Phillips here produced a batch of bills showing the amounts defendant had paid as funeral expenses. There was included in the accounts jM 8s for a dress for herself, and L5 for "odds and ends." In reply to His Honour she said that the edds and ends were brandy and food for the visitors and relatives, and three days' wage for her son, who had helped her in the funeral arrangements. The coffin and the shell had cost L6 7s 3d. Her husband owed also three months' rent at the time of his death. His Honour (sharply): Directly you pet money after a death you go and squander it. Defendant: I have done my best. The Judge: You have done your best in spend- ing the money, and you have succeeded very well indeed. You had no business to spend this money in the way you have. Your husband owed £ 21 15s, and you have squandered the money he left to pay his debts. It is scandalous. I give judgment against you for El a month. Defendant: What, sir ? His Honour: £ 1 a month. Defendant: Who is going to pay it ? I haven't got a farthing. His Honour: I don't care whether you have or not. It is the most scandalous system I have ever heard of. What was the good of this poor man leaving all this money when in less than a week after his death it is spent in the most extravagant manner? Defendant: You can give judgment for R100 a month, if you wish, sir. His Honour: Don't you talk to me like that or I'll make you suffer, and you ought to suffer, too. I consider that your conduct is dishonest. The defendant became very excited and left the court,

[TESTIMONIAL] Dear Sir,—I have very great pleasure in highly recommending your valuable remedy for fits. Three years ago I was looked upon by all who knew me as incurable, and naturally, of course, I had resigned to my fate that I should end my life as a martyr to them. I tried several skilful medical men, but all seemed of no avail, and the serious malady seemed to be increasing. I often had two fits during one night. About three years ago I was recommended to try your remedy, and during the whole of the time I was under your treatment I only hid three fits. I am now quite recovered, and hope tlnt I may long enjoy my restoration to health.—I belt remain, yours very gratefully, DAVID EVANS. To Professor Kelly, Temple of Health, Aberdare.
