I Can Do As I Like." A PENTRE HAULIER'S DISCOVERY. Before Alderman R. Lewis, and County Coun- cillor DJ. Thomas, at the Ystrad Police Court on Monday, Thomas Watkins and John Yeoman, two Pentre hauliers, were summoned for steal- ing several glasses and other measures, etc., the property of Mr John Davies, JanJlord of the Gelli ITotel, Ystrad. The prosecutor said that on the 31st ult., the two defendants came into the passage of the hotel and were served with a. half pint of beer each. Some time afterwards he missed several half pint measures and some glasses. ■P.O. White, late cn the night in question, saw Wat-us coming out of the hotel with a half pint glass in one hand and a tumbler in the other. He also saw Yeoman coming out with a half pint measure in his hand. Both de- fendants walked down the road, and Wat-kins threw the tumbler and smashed it. On being asked by the constable why lie did it, he replied" "I can do as I like with my cwn." Roth defen- dants then said that they had bought the measures at the Gelli Hotel.. A fine of 20s each was imposed.
