AMONG the numerous letters received by Mr WRAY, of Holboru Hill, thc Proprietor of the BALSAMIC PILLS, staling their decided efficacy in cases of Rheumatism, Pains in the Limbs, Gout, &c.. iiC., (as well as the local affections for which they have so long been celebrated), ;Jle following may br> taken as a convincing proof of their superior efficacy in those affections :— Rodney Street, Liverpool, Sept. 27, 1837. "SIR —Having been for a very long tilne afflicted by the most dreadful rheumatism and pains, which shot throughout my body, I was the other day induced, by seeing your advertisement, to try your PlltS, I confess without much faith in them at the time, but I have found them to be most invaluable. After taking a very few of them I found my agony sensibly diminished, and after having fin.shed a box and a half my dreadful complaint was altogether removed. For this I shall ever feel myself eternally grateful to you, and I hereby authorise you to make what use of this letter you please, either in adver- tising in Liverpool where I am well kuowu, or elsewhere Believe me to be, '• Your ever grateful and obedient servant, "HENRY LAWRENCE." No. 18, Elvet Row. Newcastle on Tvne. Jan. 23, IS:37. SIR—Having of late years been afflicted with apainful disease in my hip joints, I hope you will allow me to state the symptoms of my case, and the wonderful elficacy of your Pills and at the same time I beg leave to inform you that you may give every publicity to my statement. I am 46 years of age, and the father of a numerous family. Up to August in 1828 I had enjoyed tolerable good health, but was latterly attacked by a very irksome pain in my right leg. In Uecember the same year my other leg was attacked in the same way, so that I could not walk or pursue my usual business, which is that of a surveyor. I had, iiutil June in last year, ex- uended large sums in doctor's bills, but without any relief. At last 1 was recommended to try your invaluable Balsamic Piils. I began with taking three pills every evening, but increased it to six afterwards, finding the effect so beneficial. I continued this course till last November, at which time I felt perfectly renovated in my constitution, which was much impaired, and am now able to resume my usual occupation. I therefore remain, Sir, tendering to you my most humble thanks for the benefit I have received from your medicine, Your most obliged and humble servant, "JOHN T. ELLISON. "To Mr M. O. Wray, 118, Holborn Hill, London." These Pills having been employed in upwards of 1.800 cases in private practice within three years prior to being advertised, in many thousand cases since, and in no one instance known to fail, are strongly recommended as the only safe and efficacious remedy in present use in all stages of those disorders, and entirely obviating the necessity of having recourse to those disgusting, nauseous, and in many ca-es highly injurious medicines, as Cuheos and Copaiba; the dangerous results of the latter in the inflammatory stages aie coo well known to need anJ comment. Hecently arrived from the Continent, the singularly gifted, highly talented, and celebrated BARON SPOLASCO, M.D., A.B., 31. R. C. S., K.O.M. T., and C.L.D.H., l"HE most successful Practitioner of Medicine t- and Surgery in the known World! !who is on a tour through the principal cities of Europe-liaving been called professionally to Wales, has arrived amid the joyous shouts and acclamations of the people! and may be consulted, by both sexes, at his residence .ADELAIDE PLACE, SWANSEA, between the hours of nine in the morning and four in the afternoon, and in the evening fmm six tiii nine, relative to ail cases, both Medical and Surgical, that flesh is heir to. The Baron is a Licentiate Physician, and Member of the Royal College of Surgeons. He was a Perpetual Pupil to the late Celebrated Baron Depuytren, of the Hotel Vieu, Paris, and studied the various branches of his Profession at the Uni versitiesof Paris, Berlin, Ley den, London Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Dublin. In consequence of the numerous Patients that daily crowd round Baron Spolasco's Consulting Rooms, he has been induced to prolong his stay in Swansea beyond the period which he originally designed. Those whorequire his advice would do well, therefore to make immediate application, as they may not again have an opportunity afforded them of consulting so successful a Practitioner. The multiplicity of practice in which the Baron is neces- sarily engaged by the increasing number of his patients, renders it utterly impossible for him to leave Swansea at the time proposed, (i. e. after Christmas), but that it is extremely probable, indeed certain, he must prolong his stay in Swansea over the present winter. The destitute poor will receive advice gratuitously. Numerous very bad cases are under treatment; and seven are subjoined which have been successfully treated by the Baron within the last six. weeks i and reference to his Pamphlets is respectfully requested for further proofs of his successful Practice. "CATHERINE SMITH, of the Rutland Arms, Swan- sea, suffered for a very long period, from a virulently ulcerated leg, which impaired her health and almost made her a cripple, perfectly cured by the < good Baron' 111 two dressings, and her health firmly re-established, which she had not enjoyed for years before, after bavin" consulted several medical gentlemen in Swansea without effect." "WILLIAM JONES, blocklayer, under the Middle Bank Company, 61 years of age, was a sufferer for two years with a severely ulcerated leg, cured by Baron Spolasco in a fortnight, and his health made perfect, which had not been good for years before, after having been under treatment of seven doctors in Swansea, and two in the neighbourhood, and an out-door patient of the Swansea Infirmary for uine weeks, without any of them benefitting him." "JOHN CLEMENT, ferryman of Swansea Ferrv. was for three years sinking to the grave as it were with his thighs covered over with virulently deep seated ulcers, and his flesh dropping from his bones and his health gone was not only perfectly cured by the Baron Spolasco of iiis ulcers and sores in a fortnight, but his health was re-established, after having been under two or three r, L .1- _£:f'- _A Doctors' treatment without effect." The above three cases have been advertised at length in a recent number of this paper. I, JAM ES ROSE, employed on the Middle Bank Copper Works,Swansea, docertify, that I have suffered fora very long time under a delicate state of health, and a severely ulceiated leg, which made me a cripple, and that I con- sulted two Doctors in this town without the slightest effect. Fortunately for me at this period I heard of the arrival in Swansea, and of the fame of the great Doctor Spolasco, who it was said cured every body I at once repaired to his residence, which I found crowded, and I heard every body there blessing him from their very hearts and for thc benefits they had received at his hands; at which my heart bounded with joy, and inspired me with a confident hope of receiving similar benefit from his treatment, which hope was realized for incredible as it may appear, in the short space of a fort- night my leg was not only made sound, but my health was perfectly re-established. I would advise every body in disease to travel day and night to go to the great Baron Spolasco. May God ever bless him, I and all my rela- tions will ever pray. H Swansea. Nov. 7, 1838." "JAMES ROSE." I JOHN MURPHY, of Greenhill, Swansea, last in the employ of Starling Benson, Esq., of this place, do certify, that I have now for nineteen months been a suffering pitiable creature, with my legs ulcerated almost to mortification, and my health broken up; during the whole period of nineteen months not able to labour for my family more than a fortnight, and that in the greatest pain and agony, sinking fast into the grave, from which I wasarrested. Oh! my everlasting thanks to God Almighty for saving the invaluable life of the good Doctor Spolasco on the rock this year when wrecked in the steamer Killarney, and directing his footsteps to Swansea, so providentially for me and thousands of other sufferers in disease of every malady, to whom, through the blessing of Christ and the love of God, he has proved himself a treasure never equalled either in surgery or medicine in this world, at least since the death of our blessed Saviour. I have only to add, that my frightful ulcers and sores were dressed but four times, and those by the good Baroti's own hands, and about eight doses of his astound- ing medicine administered to me, when I found myself not only freed from my ulcers and sores, but perfectly sound and my health restored, which 1 could not boast of for five years before. May my prayers and those of my family, and those of the thousands of poor sufferers he benefits, alight upon his head, and the heads of all his kindred for ever, we must and will ever pray. I was sixteen months under the care of four medical men, two in Swansea and two in the neighbourhood, without having received the slightest benefit, but gradually sink. ing under their treatment. Nov. 22nd, 18-3S." JOHN MURPHY." "I, MARY HENDRICK. wife of John, mariner, of Pentregitinea, Swansea, consider it a duty to the pub- lic as well as to the highly gifted Surgical Practitioner, the Baron Spolasco, to state publicly, and thus offer up my most fervent prayers and thanks to God, tor directing the good Baron Spolasco to this town, or I must for ever have remained a poor suffering cripple, without obtaining the least relief from any I applied to having for the last ten years had to crawl about in the best way I was able, obliged to attend to my family and all my domestic affairs myself, till heart sickened at my hard fate, I ap- plied to the above-named talented gentleman, and in less than a month, wonderful to say, he effected for me a complete cure. The bone around my ancle was for the last ten years laid completely bare, which substance is now made up, and my limb as sound as ever, and my health better, praise be to the Lord, than it has been for the last twenty years. My family united deem it a duty they owe to thank the Baron Spolasco thus publicly for his eminent services, for whose eternal happiness they and 1 will ever pray. t. MARY HENDRICK." Swansea, Nov. 30, 1838. Another great Cure effected since the above were first inserted in this Paper. '•T, DINA WILLIAMS, 57 years of age, of the Falcon public house, Garden Street, Swansea, was a very great sufferer for twelve years with both legs ulcerated, so much so that I could scarcely bear my own weight; and that I was under treatment nearly the whole of that time, without experiencing the slightest advantage or relief; till the good Baron (may thejust od ever bless, prosper, and protect him) Spolasco, who, in but four dressings, which were performed in eight days, not only perfectly cured all my ulcers, but established my health again, which I was not able to boast of for years before. His medicines and dressings acted like a charm over my whole body. For Baron Spolasco's protection, I, my husband, and family, as in duty bound, will ever pray. DINA WILLIAMS." Swansea, December 6, 1833." c N.B. The Baron pledges himself that he will publish every week in the Guardian, at least one great and ex. traordinary Cure during his sojourn at Swansea. The wonderful cures performed by the Baron aud already published, allow to be properly understood, are not of an ordinary kind or cast, or are those numerous cases now uuder treatment, which are rapidly progress- ing, not only to the astonishment and delight of the poor patients themselves (who long ago had no hope left them for amendment in this world), but also to the amazement of the town and surrounding country. The Baron performs hundred of cures, scores of which must fer ever remain a secret, from delicate and prudential motives, which he would not deign to publish, reserving for the public eye only such of those bad case which have previously been a long, a very long and dreary while," at least to the poor sufferers, in some instances more than twenty years, in the hands of others of the faculty, without effecting for the patient the slightest improvement. After these facts, does the reader require further comment? The Baron with permission begs to state, that he never publishes any cure, without the wish, or free consent to do so of the person on whom, through the great blessing of God. the cure was effected. The Baron is immediately in want of Two, or Three Articled Pupils, for the term of either three, or five years; they will be Boarded and Lodged, and have the advantage of witnessing a new (peculiar to Spolasco's system or school only) yet more extended, and per- haps more successful practice in the two branches-sur. gery and medicine, than can be enjoyed at any other establishment known. All letters must have the postage paid, and may be addressed to The Baron Spolasco, Swansea, which will meet with immediate attention; those young gentlemen who have not before been under any Medical or Surgical tuitinn will be preferred. None need apply but those of good family, education, and address. Premium for each, Five Hundred Guineas. During the last few weeks the Baron Spolasco has re- ceived several letters in answer to his advertisement for Articled Pupils, from Parents who are wishful to place their sons under him, and making various offers for that purpose of from two hundred and fifty to three hundred and fifty guineas. In answer, the Baron most respectfully declines making any abatement of the sum asked; and begs to add, that if any of his Pupils, when out of their indenture, and during the first entire year they are in practice for themselves, do not, as the Pupil of Spolasco," in any town of twenty thousand inhabi- tants, realize a sum equal to the one in question, the Baron will place cash in the Bank in order to lefund or make up all that may be deficient of it. In consequence of recently expressed, petty, mean, envious, and ungenerous speculative opinions, respecting the perfection of these cures, tending to malign the high professional reputation of the Baron Spolascn. he is in- duced to offer, thus publicly, to bet or wager £10.000 to XI,000, that he (the Baron) will, under divine favour, perform a sound and perfect cure of the most malignant ulcer or sore in extent, if even three parts of the sub- stance of the limb be eaten away by ulceration, and if the patient has been doomed to crutches in consequence, for the last half century or does it matter to the Baron, whether the sufferer has or has not tried in vain the skill of every Professional Gentleman throughout the United Kingdom or whether or not such patient has, to lis or her great grief and suffering, passed through every Hospital, both at home and abroad, without having re- ceived the slightest improvement; still, Spolasco, with Gad's great blessing, cures; and the only two questions he will ask the patient are, is the limb already am- putated (which precipitately has too often been the case in instances too numerous and too melancholy to relate) if njt, and the sufferer still lives, the Baron will, with the word's continued favours, not only save thvlcg or arm fiom amputation, but perfect, and that for ever, a safe, sounl, aud e.fJ'ectualcure! The Baron will also render the general health of the patient perfect, which, per- haps, had not been even tolerable for fifty years before such is the Baron's success and reliance on his treat- ment and "invaluable medicines." During Baron Spolasco's residence of 10 weeks at Swansea, he has had incessant and innumerable solici- tatiom to pay periodical visits to Merthyr. He has de- termined to spend the first week in the new year at Merthyr. The Baron will leave Swansea (God willing) on Wed- nesday morning, the 2nd January, at 9 o'clock, and drive o the Head Inn, Neath, where he may be con. sulted jp to 3 o'clock in the afternoon, when he purposes to drive to the Lamb and Flag, to meet a few Gentlemen to dinner, where he intends to remain up to 3 o'clock on the following day, (Thursday) when he will repair to Merthyr for one week, and return on the following Thursday afternoon, for one night, to the Lamb and Flag. which place lie will leave again on Friday, the Ilth instant at noon, for Neath, till 3 o'clock, at which hour he leaves Neath for Swansea. A Second Edition of Dr. Spolasco's interesting Nar rative of the disastrous Wreck of the steamer Killarney. has just been published, and may be bad of all Book- sellers.— This Pamphlet contains a number of certificates of the Baron's miraculous cures. ANOTHER Proof of the Efficacy of AND RHEU- MATIC vr.LS. Copy of a Banbury, to Mr. 'd Prout, 229, Stra!id, Sr about 20 > years I have been subject to the Gout, which, in many instances, confined me even for a month at a time to my bed, causing the most acute bodily suffering. Fortunately, about three years ago a friend recommended BLAIR'S GOUT AND ItHLUMATIC PILLS, when by taking only a few doses I was relieved from pain, and quickly restored to health andstretigth, and I am happy to inform you that although I have had symptoms of the disease several times since that period, yet by taking a few doses of this valuable medicine the attack has passed away without any material suffering. Indeed, I may say, that I have not beeu confined a day since with my old complaint, and I have witnessed the same salutary effects of this medicine on several persons with whom I am acquainted. I am, Sir, your very obedient servant, Banbury, Sept. 29, 837. JOHN GARDNER. These Pills may be taken without the least care or attention, by either sex, young or old, and have the peculiar property of entirely removing the disease, with- out debilitating the frame, which is universally left in a stronger and a better state than before ti.lT!a,adv menced. And there is another most important effect belonging to this medicine—that it prevents the disease flying to the brain, stomach, or other vital part.
