[ORIGINAL POETRY.] U CYMRU FY, CYMRU FYDD I" BY WILLIAM MILBOURNE KIRKHOUSE. Yes thou hast been glorious and glorious shalt be. Lovely land of the gifted-birth-place of the free! For the mem'ries of ages recur to each mind, And the foremost and bravest thy children we find. Oh thon hast been glorious, thy children were brave, And fought like True Britons" their country to save Inspired by the noble-the Lord's of the Lyre The scions of Genius 1 with patriot desire. Oh bright be the halo encircling thy name, And foremost thy glory in annals of Fame; Thy sons wear the Laurel, the evergreen wreath, Tho' the sword of the victor now rusts in the sheath. Cymru fy, Cymcu fydd," this my motto shall be, When the ashes of heroes are resting in thee The motive for living shall animate those, Who are gaining the Olive, defending the Rose Then bright, happy land I will glory to own. The mountains and dells where such feelings known, And a thrill of delight through my bosom doth run, When I eulogize Cambrians for I, too, am one.
