On him th' iniquity of all is laid, By Him the price of our Redemption paid; By Him the fetter'd captive is uncbain'd Deliverance woa, and-Paradise regair/d. The grave He van'quish'd with exulting wing, And wrung from Death the triumph and the sting. Rejoice, ye ransom'd! you your God has freed From pains pronounced, from penalties decreed Pour forth your notes of praise-be glad, 0 Earth! And speak the blessings of a Saviour's birth By every nation-and by every tongue Let the glad song of the redeem'd be sung. Oh if the choral melodies above Peal'd the loud anthem of redeeming Love, To man forgiv'n belongs a grateful strain, Which guiltless seraphs may attempt in vain; Ho pardoning mercy need that spotless host- He who is moat forgiv'n will love and praise the most.
