By A GRUMBLING VISITOR. This is a most (2. Ughtful village (beg rardon, town1. and is growing in p^pnhritv each year amnngst visitors. There is a boriv of men here called the Urban District CouEcil*. Whut arc they doirg? Spending our money, faith a rntepayer. Some have left it when they had spent enough, ard now devote themselves to other pursuits. We have read pomn1 interesting speeches re education at Prpstityn thev even eclipse onr cnihges on red letter day lleasHnt journeys liave b-en enjoyed up t, London over Pres-tityn afi'airs at the expense of the ratepayers, which have resulted in vrbite elephants. Now new blood Iraq b-en put on the Council. Canuo they do sometbicg better thl.l1 spend the ratepa, money? I would suggest to them, as a grumbler, to improve the postal facilities. Two deliveries each day they have now, the second between 4 and 5. At Hhyl letters are delivered at 1 o'clock. Why the letters should pass Prestatyn I cannot >ee, when a locil Chester train stops there. Oh, ye of little fÜtb, awake from your lethargy, if you want your little town ti prosper. In some places of worshio here the golden calf is vory conppicaom. Honours go by packets. You ee them sitting like stit'ic on the day of rriht in th" set fawr. Their faces are like marble, thpir countenances guve- even the preacher, with a witty remark, does not move them. Love your neighbour, as yourselves, ye mighty men. Rhuddlan W. H. DAVIEs,' The Stores, 1 /S and '2/- Tea is sterling value, and his pure Coffee at 1, 8 cannot be excelled. The Parish Church. Services next Sunday :-10 a.m., Welsh 11 a.m., English, with Holy Communion. 6 p.m., English. At the evening service the Rev Lewis Lewis, Vicar of Ockbrook, Derbyshire,' will preach. The Lighting. The lamps have been lighted this week and made the streets bright and pleasant to walk alontr. The only regrettable fact in connection with the lighting is that gas is not available, or better still the electric light. Thoe who know say that a wire could easily be laid down from Rhyl, or a current might be supplied from the foundry here. This, no doubt, will all come in good time. C M Concert. A treat is in store for those who take ad van t age of the C.M. concert which has been arrange for Thursday evening next. As will be gathered from other announcements, the services of several well known artistes have been engaged for the occasion. Reading and Recreation Room. Rhuddlan cannot yet lay claim to a free library, but it possesses a building known as the reading and recreation room. This room has not, however, quite lived up to its designation during the last year or two. The question asked in various quarters just now is "Who will buckle to and give it a new lease of life ?" There ought to be no dearth of workers willing to make the institu- tion worthy of its name. HAVE YOU GOT A BOX OF | Whelpton's Pills ? The well-deserved annual trip in connection with the Parish Cuurch choir took place on Thurs- day (yesterday), the resort decided upon being Liverpool. Besides the choir a considerable number of the congregation also took advantage of the trip. Cruelty to a Horse. At St Asaph Police Court on Saturday, George Wilkinson, dealer in old iron, of Sale. Cheshire, was lined 5s and < £ 1 14s 8d costs, with the alternative of seven davs' inipiieoiiinent, for ill-treating a horse. Evidence was given by Colonel Howard Rnd his coach- man to the effect that they saw defendant mercilessly thrashing a bor?e attached to a cart. Kven after he got the hort-e itito a gallop he continued thrashing it, and got it into such a istRte that Colonel Howard felt obliged to bike the man to the Police Station. It is astonishing how little is understood of the causes and cm e of headache. Occasionally. omeone having tried all the patent medicines in the market and visited a few doctors, without any good result, thinks I will have my eyes examined," and then finds that the last experiment is the one which he should have tried first. 90 per cent 01 headaches are caused by some uncorrected defect of the eyesight, which can be absolutely cured by proper spectacles or eyeglasses.
