PEACE WITH HONOUR. (A Passenger's Lament.) 'Twas very good of George to settle This grim and shocking railway fight, And cool the heated men of metal According to' his light. But little did that war-deisrtroyer Consider me; for peace will shelve My sole excuse to my employer For turning up at twelve. —(From the "Daily Chronicle.") < < The favourite exlamation. in North Wales is —"By George!" And there is no doubt as to which of the dragon .slayers is meant—the man who gave the Strike dragon his quietus! The controversy as. the origin of the -htase "peace with honour" is recalled by Mr. Lloyd- George's great achievement. At the time of the Peace of Vereening, when that phrase was last universally current, .it was pointed out that all sorts of people had said "peace with honour," or something uncommonly like it, before Lord Beaconsfield. The man who could life without acknowledgement whole passegeis from Thaler's panegyric on Marshall Gouvion de St. Cyr far his own funeral oration on Wellington was quite capable of annexing somebody else's "peace with honour"—a very venial an- nexation. But it is as hooeleisis to guess from whom exact] v if from anyone, Bieacoinsfield took the phrase, as to. discover who first used it. The most ingenious shot (says the "Daily Chronicle") is that it is a version on the grand scale of Cicero's "atium cum degnitate."

Of these, 935,000 have been sent out in the last eighteen months. This pamphlet is compiled with the assistance of the Canadian Provincial Governments, and gives a statement of wages current in the various trades throughout the Dominion.
