Having had some 30 years experience as a magistrate in two Counties, and not having had a single decision I ever gave during those years appealed against, I feel I have a record to main- tain. I can quite understand that with mere birds of passage-here to-day and gone to- morrow-it is immaterial whether the laws of evidence are observed or not, when prejudice warps the judgment without any reference to the probability of the conviction being quashed, there being no magisterial reputation either retro- spective or prospective.—Yours faithfully, W.
