It appears that the daughter of a certain lady had been receiving the attentions of a yonng man who was not approved by the mother, and consequently the young lady was remonstrated with in language mora forcible than polite. This interference was resented, with the result tha-t blows followed words, and for that night the injured girl sought refuge at the house of a friend. I hear tl e breach has now been healed, and the young man is received at the home of his fair one with due respect. o 0 o Now that the winter is approaching, steps are being taken for the establishing of a public dancing class. O » o It is alleged that a certain man, well known in Penartb, took ofl his coat this week and threatened to fight a woman. According to ramour, she proved herself one too many for her assailant, who after- wards expressed a wish to exchange greetings with be;; husband. This infprmation the good woman took home, and on the following day there was to be seen a big burly man patrolling St. Augustine's church* yard. lie, it appears, had got scent that the one who wanted to exchange greetings wiih him was somewhere in that neighbourhood- Later, the two met inside the front door of the church, and in a moment's time the gallant young man who pulled off his coat to fight the .woman lay on his back, measur- ing the ground.
