IN order to commemorate the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales held in Carnarvon in 1894 in some tangible form, it has been proposed that Mr PHIL. MORRIS'S PICTURE of EDWARD I. demanding the oath of allegiance to his infant son, the first Prince of Wales, should be purchased and presented to the Town. The carrying out of this suggestion would not only effect the above object, but would also give to Carnarvon a work of art which would yearly increase in value. The Picture, whick is on view in the Carnar- von Institute, can be purchased upon the most favourable terms (£300). The Eisteddfod Committee have voted the sum of £ 50 towards the object. ORDINARY BRANCA. — The number of Policies issued daring the year WI'S 61,744, assuring the sum of £ 6,282,120, and producing a New Annual Premium Income of £ 339,967. The Premiums received during the vear were £ 2,077,966, being an increase of £ 223,586 over the year 1893. The Claims of the year amounted to £ 518,131. The number of Deaths was 3584, an 198 Endow- ment Assurances matured. The number of Polices in force at the end of the year was 375,545. INDUSTRIAL BRANCH.—The Premiums re- ceived during the year were £4,244,224, being an increase of £ 272,360. The Claims of the year amounted to jEl.548 377. The number of Deaths was 168.689, and 1304 Endowment. Assurances matured. The number of Free Policies granted during the year to those Policyholders 0' five jears' standing, who desired to discontinue their pay- ments was 66,478, the number in force being 398,078. The number of Free Policies which j became Claims during the year was 6672. [ The total number of Policies in force at the end ot the year was 11,176,661 their average duration is nearly seven and a hnif years. The Assets of the Company, in both branches, as shown in the Balance Sheet, are E21,213,805, being an increase of £2.674.940 over those of 1893.
