ARTHUR CAUSTON, Esq., Gloucester. r jPH E object of twe formation of this Company is _L for the purpose of laying down a line of TRA M WAY from the SLue Quarries, in the neighbourhood of Corris, to Aberdovey, a distance of It) miles to reduce the present heavy charge of conveyance of iSlate, nlld tor iaohtattng-the delivery of Merchandize, &c., to Mach- ynHetii and the neighbourhood. The present pioduce of the Quarries, guaranteed by the seseral Proprietors, is b,500 tons per annum, which, at the rate of Ad per (on per mile, according to distance, will yield 900/. 15s. The Imports into Aberdovey for the past year, consist- ing- oi Coal, Culm, Merchandise, and "Lime Stone, amount to 12,365 Tons; two thirds ot which, at least, may be safely calculated to be conveyed on a low ave- rage, 10 miles upon th- iiiteide(I Iiiie; taking Mer- chandi.se at 4' per ton per mile, Coals at 3< Culm and Lime Stone at lrf will yield (J25i. per annum. In the above, 110 account, is taken of Lead Ore, Tiru- Let-, Rilrk) and Building' Stone considerable quantises or which must be carried 011 the Line. The working expenses, consisting of 4 Men, 3 Horses, Repairs of Waggons, Clerk and Office expecses, are calculated under 400/. per annum; from wMch it will j be seen that a very ample profit will be derived from the investment of capital. The guarantee of the Quarry Proprietors, though given upon the understanding that the rate per mile of tonnage is to be reduced upon the proportionate increased tonnage, will alone always secure 7> per cent, upon the estima ted outlay, while the back-carriage, as before theTi'n eXeet!C's the working expenses and repairs of The estimated cost is calculated not to exceed 12,000/. to be raised in 12,000 Shares ot 1/- each, payable by easy instalments of Two Shillings and Sixpence; per bliaie, in order to afford to the small Capitalist an op- poituinty of investing his money in an equally safe and more IUCIM ive channel than is at present open to him. I he Committee have waited upon the Land Owners, and have already obtained the consent for 1 If miles out of the lb mdes, whilst there are only two dissentients for li miles, leaving the remainder still to be consulted. From tne above statement, the Committee trust that an undertaking so beneficial to the trading interest of the neighbourhood, and so certain in its retllrn, will meet with that local support it so evidently merits.
