GELLI W E N. THE picturesque little village of Gelliwen has just been favoured with another visit by Mrs Brynferch Rees, Pontyrhil. Only very recently" Brynferch occupied the pulpit of Ainon Baptist Chapel as preacher of the Gospel, and on Tuesday, the 15th inst., she appeared in the same edifice and delivered her able lecture on "Y Gareg filldir auraidd," the Golden milestone. An exceptionally large number of tickets had been sold. The inclemency of the weather kept away many that had fully intended to be present for the treat. Plowevei, a good number came together, and greatly appreciated a lecture which proved, humorous, able, and edifying. The chair was by the Rev L. Price, Ffynon- bedr. Mr W. Palmer, Brynbank, proposed and Mr Thomas, Fronllan, seconded a vote of thanks to Mrs Rees for her lecture. Brynferch's" response was graceful and telling, and before resuming her seat pro- posed a vote of thanks to the Chairman, which was seconded by Mr Jones, school- master, Alma.
