---» Death of Alderman David…

THE NEW PAIUPII COUNCIL met at the Board Schoolroom on the 15th April. All were present except one of the newly elected members. Mr Long Price, Talley House, was unanimously re-elected chairman for the ensuing year; also Mr Perkins, Gelly, as vice-chairman Mr S. M. Jones, Plas, as treasurer; and Mr A. D. Townsend as clerk. Having thus secured the services of the old officials, the machinery ought to run smothery after a year's experience. Mr Jones, Abernant, for Upper Division and Mr Henry Lewis, Llettywen, for Lower Division, were appointed overseers. Mr Williams, Bryngwyn, asked for a petition to the Postmnster- Gencral for increased postal facilities in delivery for his immediate district. A discussion took place upon several topics of local interest, but no definite resolutions passed. THE TELEPHONE is now in working order, and we understand a brisk trade was done on the opening day. No doubt some were of a complimentary nature, but all tgree upon the great conTerierice it has afforded. COCOA is more than mere stimulating and refresh- ing drink, it is also a nutritious food, and one of the most precious gifts of nature sustaining and invigorating the system probably more than any other beverage. The Lancct refers to Cadbury's Cocoa as the standard of highest purity at present attainable in regard to coooa." No alkahes used.
