FOOTBALL.—The Coronation Juniors added another victory to their unblem- ished record by defeating Cwmaman Globe A.F.C. on Saturday last to the tune of 3 goals to love. The team was as follows:—W. Poar; J. Hopkins, H. Evans; ..J. Lewis, B. Thomas, F. Maull; W. T. Edwards. W. Cox, C. Lewis, G. Tniker, G wily in Williams. The victors played a fast and scientific game, and completely nonplussed the play of their ■opponents. There are good prospects of this junior eleven topping the league table. Coronation Seniors played a drawn game with Aberdare Y.M.C.A. at Aberdare. The local lads were menaced with rough tactics by the Darians, one of the players, W. T. James, having to -obtain medical attendance.—The cup tie, Bedlinog v Hirwain Athletic, was post- poned, the appointed referee not making an appearance. A good gate was missed.

ELVAN'S. — On Sunday morning the Canticles were chanted. The Rev. J. A. Lewis, B.A., vicar, officiated, and de- livered an inspiring sermon. Evensong was conducted by the Revs. G. J. Pritch- ard and J. L. Phillips. CONFIRMATION. On Thursday evening the annual confirmation service was conducted by the Lord Bishop of Llandaff. Preceding the sacred rite, Dr. Hughes delivered a kalpful address to the candidates, about 90 in number. The Vjcar took part in the service, and the offertory was given to the mission work of the church overseas. PERSONAL. Dr. J. Glannant Mor- gan, son of Mr. J. Afanydd Morgan,, Aberdare, is on a visit -to Aberdare. He has been for the last 8 years pastor of a prosperous church ia the United States, where his services as minister are deep- ly appreciated- Prior to emigrating to America he was minister of Canaan Con- gregational Church, Miskin. Last Sun- day he preached at Providence Congre- gational Church, Mountain Ash. CYMltODORlON.—-This society has of late made a new" departure .by giv- ing a prize to a scholar of the Aber- dare County Schools who gets. the highest number of marks in Welsh at the Central Welsh Board Examination. The prize for the first time was won by a student of the Girls' County | School, Miss Huldah C. Bassett, daughter of the Rev. D. Bassett, Gad- lys, obtaining the highest number of marks in- distinction. It is also credit- able to the school that the above young lady came second in Welsh throughout the whole of Wales in the said examination. We wish h«r every success in her career at the University College, Cardiff. 'CARMEL (B.)—Camiel English Bap- tist M.I. Class held its first meeting on Thursday, when the president, the Rev. W. G. Watkins, gave a recital of Lewis Carrol's "Alice in Woaderland." The chair was occupied by Miss B. M. Fran- of the author. A duet was given by MiViolet J'ones and Florrie Owen, and also by Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Phelps. Mr. Watkins, with his wonderful mem- ory-, and impersonations of the different characters of the book, and also the sing- ing gave quite a treat to all present, from the youngest to the oldest. It is hoped that the enthusiasm shown so far will continue, so that a good session may be assured. OBITUARY.—On Wednesday last Mrs Burrell, 20 Bute Street, passed away j after a short illness. The interment took place on Monday at the Aberdare Ceme- tery. The mourners were: Philip, W ll- lie and Cyril, sons; Mrs. Burrell, mother-in-law; Mr. F.
