Carnetown Collier Caught. Richard Brooks, collier, Carnetown, was prosecuted for stealing an article of underclothing from a clothes line at the back of Herbert Street, Abercynon. Thomas Henry Cooper stated that he caught defendant with the article, belonging to Emily Jones, in his pos- sesion, and took him to the police. Police Sergt. Clynch deposed to ar- resting defendant. Brooks, answering the charge, ad- mitted the theft and put forward a de- fence that he was in drink at the time. The police put in a record of previous convictions against prisoner, including burglary and flour-stealing. Stipendiary: I can understand it now A sentence of two months imprison- ment was inflicted.
