The above did not sit last week-end. nor will they meet at all this week Mr. Charles Kenshole, High Con- stable, the chairman of the Tribunal, is enjoying a well-earned holiday from home. Since the Military Service Act was passed the Tribunal have met twice a week, and sat for about four hours at each meeting. The attendance of alJ the members has been exemplary. By the way, it is somewhat of a coin- cidence to have the solicitor of the South Wales Coalowners presiding over the Aberdare Tribunal, and the solicitoi of the South Wales Miners' Federation chairman of the Rhondda Tribunal.

The first part consisted of action songs, which were well performed and cordially re- ceived. In the second part the musi- cal play. The Sleeping Beauty," was performed. This was well staged, and the principal characters did justice to their parts, the dia- logue part giving ample scope to the elocutional abilities of the perform- ers. The musical items were beauti- fully rendered and reflected credit on Miss M. Wilkins, L.L.C.M., who had been responsible for the training. I Congregationallsts' Gymanfa Ganu. The morning meeting of the singing festival of the Lower District (W^elsh Congregational Churches) of Mountain Ash, Miskin. and Penrhiwceiber, was held on Tuesday at Bethel, Miskin. The Rev. Di. Davies, Carmel, presided The conductor was Mr. D. R. Davies, L.T.S.C., Mountain Ash. The Rev. J. Phillips opened the meeting. The con- ductor paid a very high tribute to the choristers for their brilliant rendering J especially of the anthem, Yr amser especially of the anthem, Yr amser a gyfla wn "nl. The Rev. Win. Da vies, Soar, gave a brief address. I The afternoon meeting was held at Carmel, Penrhiwceiber. The Hev, J. t hilups, Bethania, Mountain Ash, pre- sided. Several hymns and the anthem, Molwch i Dduw," were sung. At the evening service at Carmel the Rev. Wm. Davies presided. The meet- ing was introduced by Mr. Wm. Isaac, senior deacon. The War. Tackled by a Submarine. Mr. Tom Rees, of the Castle Hotel. Aberdare, has received a letter from Corporal Woollacott, Quarter Master's Stores, 74th Battalion, B.E.F., Bram- shott Camp. Hampshire. The writer is well known in Aberdare. He joined his Majesty's Forces in Canada, and in this letter he gives a thrilling account of a journey from Toronto to Liverpool in The Empress of Britain," a voyage not unattended with considerable hazard. About 16,000 troops came ovei in all. There were three battalions or The Empress of Britain." On the evening before landing they were en- countered by an enemy submarine, which was, however, soon put out ot action by one of our destroyers. Cor- poral Woollacott's family are in Canada,

Penrhiwceiber Weddings. NOVELL—MOORE. On Saturday last a pretty wedding was solemnised at St. John's Churchy Miskin. The contracting parties were Miss Minnie Moore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Moore, of 6 Pentwyn Avenue, Penrhiwceiber, and Mr. Francis James Novell, of Troedyrhiw. The bride was attired in a brown satin costume with hat to match. Mr. Jack Moore, brother to the bride, acted as best man, whilst the bridesmaid was Miss J. White, Miskin. The Rev. T. D. Williams, Curate, officiated. After the ceremony the happy couple repaired to their new I home at Troedyrhiw. THOMAS—PRICE. On Saturday, April 22nd, a quiet but pretty wedding was solemnised at the Register Office, Pontypridd. The con- tracting parties were Miss Catherine Price, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. I David Price, Church Street, Penrhiw- ceiber, and Mr. Thomas Thomas, of Abercynon. The best man was Mr. David Price, brother of bride. Mr. Herbert John Thomas, the bridegroom's brother, was also in attendance. The bride was attired in a navy blue costume with hat to match. KENDRY-BROWN. On Saturday last, at Hermon C.M. Chapel, a pretty wedding took place. The contracting parties were Miss Maggie Brown, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Brown, Station Terrace, and Mr. Luther Kendry, youngest son of Mrs. Kendry, of 10 Cynon Terrace. The bride was nicely attired in a dark grey costume with black hat. The brides- maid^were Miss Lily Kendry, who was nicely dressed in a light grey costume with pink hat, and Miss Sarah Jane Brown, sister to the bride, prettily attired in a brown shot dress with brown hat. Mr. Gwilym Kendry, brother of bridegroom, acted as best man. The bride was given away by her father. The Rev. David Jones, M.A., officiated. After the ceremony the happy pair repaired to the bride's home, where breakfast was partaken of. Among -the guests were: Rev. D. Jones, Mrs. Kendry, Mr. and Mrs. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Gwilym Kendry, Mrs. D. Davies, sister to bride- < groom; Misses Sarah Jane Brown, Lily i Kendry, and Mrs. T. Jones, overman. Afterwards the happy pair left for Swansea to spend the honeymoon. l KILNER—HUGHES. On Easter Monday a very pretty wedding was solemnised at Jerusalem J (B.). Penrhiwceiber. The contracting parties were Miss Sophia Hughes, daughter of Mrs. Hugh Hughes, 99 Woodfield Terrace, and Mr. Pugh Kilner, of Trawsfynydd, North Wales, now, re- siding at Dillwyn Street. The Rev. W. S. Thomas officiated. The bride was smartly attired in grey costume and black hat with grey trimmings, and was given away by her eldest brother, Mr. John M. Hughes, whilst the bridesmaid was Miss Katie Kilner, of London, sister to the bridegroom. She was nicely attired in a brown costume with cream hat trimmed with brown and blue.
