Wil- liams, J.P., and Dr Lloyd Williams, in accordance with their annual custom, dis- tributed Christmas gifts amongst the poor of the district. TEMPERANCE.—A temperance meet- ing was held at Preswylfa Chapel on Sun- day evening, Mr Thomas Currie in the chair. Addresses were delivered by the Rev Evan Jones, Llangristiolus,' the chair- nan, and others. FOOTBA.LL.- WhiM'taTdng part in a football match between the local team and Ltanrwst., on the latter's ground on Box- ing Day, Owen Owens, Bryniau Gerddi, met with a serious accident. A few minut es before the finish of the game he had his leg fractured. He is progressing favourably. FIRE.—A fire broke out in the estab- lishment of Mr W. H. Jones, Liverpool House, on Saturday morning. The goods in the window were burnt, together with a portion of the stock inside the shop. The property was rasured.
