Cdccieth- THE UKBAN COUNCIL. — Saturday evening. Present: Messrs Robert Thomas (chairman), Wm. Williams (chairman), O. T. Williams, R. P. Thomas, H. Humphreys, R. Roberts, E. Griffith, W. B. Marks, Livingstone Davies, Evan Jones, John Rowlands, Capt. Evan Jones, T. Burnell, R. G. Roberts, J. Tobias (assistant clerk), and John Jones (surveyor) .-Th(-. Board of Trade was now rettdy to re-consider the application of the Council with respect to tLe sea shore. With that "iew it was reso ved to advertise so that the public might get acquainted of the Council's intentions. Mr Eilis Nanney, who had seen the plans, could not contribute any more towards the road to Maes Ty'nygeTaist. Letters had beoa sent to the local landowners asking their co-operation in doing the necessary work to protect Abereistedd from the en- croachment of the sea. Mr Greaves replied saying that he did not exactly understand whatihe Council meant, and asked for furtber explanation. The chairman said that Mr Greaves could continue his wall at Abereistedd, till it reached the wall or tne Council, and so protect the place. The Council asked Mr Greaves to contnbute towards the expense of making the Council's wall-—-Captain B. Jones strongly objected to requesting Mr Greaves paying for building a wall on other persons' land.—Mr 0 T Williams, seeing that two applications had been sent to Mr Greaves—that he should build on his own wall, and contribute towards building the other wall— said that it would be better for them to ask Mr Greaves to continue his own wall. — Mr R. Roberts wanted the Council to deal with all the landlords.—Mr 0 T Williams proposed and Mr Marks seconded that Mr Greaves; Walsall; R Blayney, Hull; Wm Hill, Leeds J Fitzpatrick, Liverpool; Owe*. Owens, Four- Crosses; J Wibberley, Derby; John Nuttal, Derby; John Ashworth, Wolverhampton; Frank Kelley, Birkdale; PJchard Taylor, Hackney; Geo Yates, Runcorn; Ivan Ma- dras, Leamington; N Clout, Cleethorpe; J Fawcett, Grifield; — Hopson, Sheffield; J W Rogerson, St Helens; and R A Hughes, South- ampton.—Though Welsh was not specified as a qualification, on the motion of Mr Marks, seconded by Mr Humphreys, it was resolved to limit the selection to candidates who kew Welsh. This brought down the number of candidates to 12. First voting (5 votes to each member): Williams, 11; Moses Parry, 9; R 0 Thomas, 10; 0 T Evaas, 5 (and one doubtful vote); Robet t Evans, 12 0 Williams, 1 John Ellis, 4; J 0 Jones, 5 R Davies, 1; 0 0 Williams, 3; R A Hughes, 2. Second ballot: Morris Williams, 10; R P Thomas. 6; M Parry, 7 OT Evans, 3. Third ballot: R Evans, 7; M Williams, 10 M Parry, 5.-Mr J T Jones then proposed, and Mr 0 T Williams seconded, that Mr Williams be elected. It was carried unaaimously.

BANGOR COUNTY COURT. I MONDAY, before His Honour Sir Horatio Llo ACTION 3Y -NR: JSANGOU CORPORATION. The^Bangi.r Corporation sued A. N, Kiley, de scribed AS A hotel keeper, of West Broughton* Manchester, for the recovery os £ 7 Is I0d M re- spectof water and gas and sundry work executed for the defendant.—Mr Rod way, deputy town clerk, who appeared for the Corporation, stated that the defendant formerly occupied the Star Hotel, Bam-or, and the claim was again«t him while he was the occupier of that hotel. The de- fendant die not appear, and judgment WAS given for the pla'ntirls for the FULL amount claimed. SALVAGE CLAIMS. An application tvas made in iefercnce to salvage claims against the brigautine Rival/' The action I was heard in Jannary last, and was brought by the owners of the steamer, "'Voltaic and of tha [ steamship •• Pcnrhyn," who respectively claimed I salvage from the owners of the cargo of the bri- gantine '• Rival," which was in Nove nber last in distress off Point Lynas:. on the A^FFLESEV coast. She was brought from there to the Menai Straits I by the steaiusbip Voltaic." AND thence again to Port Penrhyn at Bangor by the steamship" Pen- rhyn. As TNE result of that hearing his Honour awarded the Voltaic" £ 100 salvage ageinst the I 1 Z7 cargo of the Rival, and £ '25 against the vessel, and £ 10 to TIE Peurhyn for towage service.— MrPiodway (Messrs Husrres and Pritchard\ on behalf of the rtearner Voltaic," stated that the I¡ I VE^E. TE?N SJID, and that the net proceeds paid into court amounted to £ 38 4s. This was in- ( sufficient to meet his Honour's award, inasmuch I as the claim of the "Penrhyn" and the costs amounted to £ 3S and the claim of the Voltaic with their apportionment of costs, amounted to ,d t T £ 31. As the "Voltaic "had put in a claim for j lif ? salvage the owners of that steamer claimed J, that they would have a priority in the distribution j of the proceeds of sale paid into the court. Mr J Thornton Jones, on behalf of the owners of the I '• Penrhyn," said that on behalf of his J clients be ""had incurred the expense of arresting the Rival" when she was about to be sold, and but for the step having been taken there would have been no I ship to satisry any claims.—HIS Honour made an order for the payment of X13 cut of the money in court to the" Y olta.ic" and the balance to the I Pen, bvn, on the understanding that the latter paid the costs of arresting the vessel, which Mr i-horuton Jones said had aire.idy been done. CLAIM TOR PREPARING PLAN'S. 1 Griffith, L'.infairfecban, claimed £ -3 12s 6d 5 > froin HenrJf Jones, Llanfatrfechaii, for preparing j PLANS and SPECIFICATIONS for a house which the de- j PENDANT was about to build. MR W. EUH APPEARED for the plaintiff, and Mr S. R. Dew defended.—For the defence it was contended that the plans and J ^EEIFICATIONB were quite inadequate, anu. that the i-i&d L"!) obtain OTHER ^pians spssif^c^- tions from mother per-on, and it WAS in ar-ccrd- ance with TH" ,-atter tnat he had built his house, T COST i'TOO. — IN cross-examination thedefen- DAUT admitted having written to the plaintiffs solicitor stating that the pb-.U.-tiff had not the manliness TO cad for his small account; kindly in- form him ^HFIT it IS here ready^ior him."—His Honour held that this was an admission of liability OL the part ot THE defendant, and therefore gave judgment for the plaintiff for two guineas. BANKRUPTCY ACTION. j An application WAS made by Mr John Arthur Evans, Rhyl, in the matter of the bankruptcv of his son, Mr J. T D. ERhyl.—The appli. caDt stated tha.t he had OCCUPIED a room ia the same premises as his son. On the 16th June a re- eei vxng order was uande his sen, and on the following day the Official Receiver took possession, ^ND AMONGST other things he took possession of the applicant's room and its contents, and there- J fore he (the applicant) had been prevented from navxng access to his private papers and correspon- J deuce. The room referred to was in the applicant's | occupation, AUD he paid rent for it. There ivere other pers occupying rooms in the same buildings, bat their goods were not seized' Correspondence bad taken place between the I applicant and the Official Receiver,"AND the latter offered to deliver up the goods on the applicant supplying a list of them and paying for them according to valuation under protest. The applicant now t.sked to have refunded to him J the sum of £ 5 13s, which he had paid under protest, and "DSO a further sum of £3 as compensa- tion for the inconvenience he had suffered through the Official Receiver having taken possession of f his e&ects.—In crcss-examination by the Official Receiver, the bankrupt said that his son had not I the slightest ihte:est ia the firm of John Arthur I Evans and Son. He also denied. that he had any interest in the firm of Thomas Evans and Co.-The j applicant WAS cross examined at some length as to whether he had any in the firm of Thomas Evans and Co. and the Victoria Supply Company, which and Co. and the Victoria Supply Company, which he denied, although he said he rendered assistance ( to his sen when he required it.-His Honour, without hearing the Official Receiver, expressed the opinion that the different ifrms named appeared f to be so mixed up together that he could uut grant j the application.
