J. Davids, the Engineer of the Waterworks and Drainage scheme. I am, Ladies and Gentlemen, Yor.r Obedient Servant, R. LL. JONES. IS, Church-street, Carnarvon, 11th October, 1889. 2323 £ JARN ARVON MUNICIPAL ELECTION, TO TB.E ELECTORS OF TLIE WESTERN WARD. LADIES AND GENTLEMEV,— Three years ago you placed your con- fidence in me by electing me, second on the Poll, as one of your Representatives on the Town Council. Daring that period I have attented to the duties with one uniform purpose, and that was to do what was just and proper on all occasions, and to have the utmost regard for the interests of the town and the burdens of the ratepayers. I have at all fcii^os endeavoured to act in a thoroughly uprigbt;a.od straightforward manner; and being one of the largest ratepayers in the Borough, it. is natural I would do my utmcst in the interests of economy aDd efficiency. I trust that my couduct has been such as to merit your approval, which I trust you will be good enough to t<h'Jw by honouricg me with your votes on the- 1st November. I have the honour tl be Yotir Obeaii-nt Servant, W. LLC V D GRIFFITH. Bodaf .n, October 15, IS-9 235:1 ^pO THE ELECTORy OF TRE WELTERV -L WAtvD Oh ThE tfCJtiOUGH OF CARNARVON. LADIES A¡,D GENTLEMEN,— As there are four vacancies to be filled in our Munic pal Council at the forthcoming Election on the 1st prox., I beg to offer myse'f as a Candidate for your representation. You did me the honour, at the beginning of this year, d electing n e as one, f your Rep'esenta:ivi-s on the County Council, and I feel reluctant to come forward; but, being largely interested ill. the welfare and prospeiity of the town, and having time at my disposal, I venture again to, ask your suffra^?s for our Municipal Cooncil. I can refer you to no past ecoaomic successes to prove my firness as possibly my fellow Candidates can; but believing, as I do, that the prosperity of a town. depends in a great measure on the pubiic spirit animating its governing body, I may state that I shall always support any movement that has for its object tha improv2ment of the sanitation, the revival of the trade, and the advancement educationally of the town. The large strides made in the direction of education by cue present L3gislature add greatly to the responsibilities of our local public bodies. The. passing o the Welsh Intermediate Education Act, and the r, cocnit on of the claims of our artizans and wo-kmen to mar. al and techr.icftl instruction, should mark a new era in the educational and industrial history, Dot only cf our country, but also of our own town of Carnarvon. Hitherto, to meet the great competition in mind and h.uid f o;n abroad, our 0" artizans and handicraftsmen huve been placed at a disadvantage. The Legislature has said that it shall no longer be so. To cultivate tha accurate eye and disciplined hand pnbHc money is to be given, and within our reach is the possibility of a grand nations! system of techn ie il e luiati n. The ad vantages to a town like o-rs of the establishment of a school of manual and technic*! instruction it is unneaasary to point out, and past experience in the loss of similar advantages sho^s Low important it is that no effort shcu d be spared if we wish to secure them. Tr^ str to receive your cordial support on the dav of the Poll, J Boiiove n.F, LAOIEI ^I;D -?6IITIEMEN, s obeiiently, J. I'SARD DAVIES. The Anchorage, Carnar rou, October 5th, 1889. 231.
