CARNARVONSHIRE CONGRE NATIONAL- ISTS AND THE GENERAL ELECriON. On Tuesday, the representatives of the English Churches and preaching stations of Carnarvon- shire met at Colwyn Bay, under the presidency of the Rev Thomas Gasquoine, Llandudno, who delivered an address which he was requested to publish. The Rev Edwin Hartland, of London, represented the Church Aid Society, and it was agreed to form auxiliaries of it in connection with the churches. The following resolution on the political crisis was carried unanimously, on the motion of Mr Owen Lloyd, Colwyn Bay, seconded by the Rev Philip Davies, of Peamaeumawr,- That this assembly, devoutly believing that the government of the nation should be in harmony with the great and permanent principles of righteousness and peace, and altogether failing to recognise such harmony in the rash and warlike policy which has characterised the course of the present Ministry, rejoices that by the forthcoming dissolution of Parliament an opportunity is given to the people to make an unmistakable protest against a policy which during the past six years has so unnecessarily brought the miserable con- sequences of war upon weaker races, and has en- dangered the prosperity and peace of our own land; and it expresses- its earnest hope that the members of the churehes will put forth every effort to secure the return of representatives pledged to a complete reversal of the past foreign policy, as well as to further the religious and the political equality and the sobriety and moral development of the nation." Services were also held in connection with the settlement of the Rev Watkin Joseph as pastor of Colwyn Bay Church, at which the Revs Richard Parry, Llandudno; John Thomas, of Liverpool; David Roberts, of Wrexham; E. Davies, of Abergele; M. Evans, of Trefriw; and others, took part. »■
