A POEM. _fit' w. his native land, Wales, after mar .'leal'S of absence, and locked, as in boy- Lo; x, from the brow of the mountain, on valley arm sea.) Gem Isle of earth. Land of my "birth > (Am I dreaming, All things seeming Just as of old ?) Up in the North Stands boldly forth Old Snowdon high Peering the sky Just as of old. That lazy skiff Floats near the cliff; Those white sails ride The restless tide Just as of old! I see to-day Carmarthen Bay; And ocean's foam From our old home Just as of old I Dimpled and fair As poised in air The Em'rald Isle Wears a green smile Just as of old! To our sweet home," On mountain's dome Clear voices float, From farms remote Just as of old! The mountain rill Turn" the old mill, Its mammoth wheel Is made to reel Just as of old The med larks sing Upon the wing. And lost to sight In morn's pure light Just as of old: We wade about And catch the trout, In mountain stream. Where crystals gleam, Just as of old! We close the day Of joyous play; Now playmates clear Your laugh I hear Just as of old! The moon's soft light Illumes the night; While home we hie, With none to spy. Just as of old! Hail heaven's Firstborn, Blest Sabbath mom; The chime of bells Thine advent tells, Just as of old! Sweet Sabbath hush Sweet nuiet rush To meet, to rMse Their hearts in praise Just as of old! It's long ago. In days of woe, Christ was their King, Of him they sing, Just as of old! I am not old, I'm > ouug and bold! Hear that same chime, Sweeter than rhyme Just as of old! My mother's kiss Crowns each day's bliss, (Am I dreaming All but seeming! Just as of old ?) Little Rock, Ark., America. B. THOMAS, D.D.
