SECRETARY AND OFFICES street^E ^INGHAM, Esq., nt Queen Victoria- ABRIDGED PROSPECTUS. Tins Company has been formed to acquire and develop au estate of 1,100 acres, upon which is situated a verv valuable Gold Reef known as the Akankoo Reef on the river Ankobra, 24 miles from the town and port of Axirn, on the Gold Coast of WTest Africa, and generally AssocUtir*086* mentioneJ in the Memorandum of r, V.e.G' ld Coast Colony—which is a Dependency of the British Crown as its name implies, hasfromtimeim- memorial been known to be a rich fWi for the Sous metal. Even by the primitive method employediy?he natives—which consists simply in dig-ir^ pits two „r three feet m diameter and from ten to thirty feet ,lwn out of which the soft f.tuff is dug, a::d «iS o, K- visible particles of gold being retained—immense quan- tities of gold and gold dust, have been extracted for ceuturies past by them, although unable from the in- sufficiency of their appliances to extract the Gold from the Quartz, ill which lie" its I oj nlue. The chief Gold Reef ill the property runs from north- east to south-wet, and is situated on the Akaukoo Hill, which, from a height of 100 feet, gradually reaches an elevation of about 200 feet. The outcrop of the Reef can be distinctly seen on the top ot the Ilill-a splendid nin cf quartz varying in thickness from four to six fet. wen defiued, and trace- able for a distance of about 9.0 feet on the crest of the Hill, the edge of the vein being honeycombed with shafts made by the natives in their search for gold. The Reef has an inclination of about 40 dog. towards the south- east. Valuable alluvial deposits arc known to exist on the property, and have been worked by the natives the soil of tbe whole district being more or less auriferous. A quantity of quartz obtained from the trial shafts on the Chief Reef at a depth of 42 feet by blasting was brought to London, and the assays of Messrs Johnson, Maithey, and Co., the Assayers to the Bank of Eng.aud, are highly encouraging, the results beinr as given in the full prospectus. ° With a view still further to test in the fullest possible way the value of this Reef, it wa3 decided to assay the entire remainder of the quartz brought to England in bulk, which was accordingly done by Frederick Claudet, Esq., Assayer to the Bank of Englaud, The cei tidcatc of Mr Claudet i'a'c-i that this assay was obtained by dividing cach stone into two parts," and crushing and well mixing one moiety thereof together, the result obtained being loz. lOd.wt?. of pure gold per ton of 20 cwt. which at. £:3 17s 6d per ounce would equal a value of £G 19s Cd to the ton rail upon this last stsay, although lower than the general aveiagc, the c;thnatc3 of profits arc based. It will be seen, therefore, that this filial asssy stamps this Gold Reef as one of the most valuable iu the world. Taking as a basis only the result of the assay of the bu'k oi the quartz before referred 1" viz., loz. lddwts. of gold to the ton and. reckoning the gold at £3 17s Otl P-T oz., the result of working 100 tens per cav wou'd be £181,3:;0 From which,deducting- the cost of extraction, say 205 per ton on 26,000 toas, including all expenses of management, ie., &:0. 2",0Q0 The net result shown is £1,;5,350 Equal to a return on the entire Capita] of upwards of 150 per ccnt. per annum. All the expenses incidental to the formation and raisinsr the eapital of the Company, including printing, advertising, legal charges, &c., up t) the Allotment of Shares, will be defrayed by the Vendors in auy event. The only contracts which have been entered into are between Marie Joseph Boanat of the one part, and the London Agency (Limited) of the other pari, dated 23rd Dee" 1880, having a Memorandum eudorscd thereon by the said Marie Joseph Bonnat dated the 29th da.y of January, 1381, and between the London Agency (Lin1Ïtcd) of the one part, and Thomas John Woods, a Trustee on bchalt of the Company, of the other lurt, dated 1st Febrtury, 18S1, and the above-mentioned deed of Trust, madeby the Right Honourable Lord Robert- Montagu and Colonel George Arbuthnot, dated 2ud Febru.ry, 1851, which, with the Memorandums and Articles of Associa- tion, can be seen at the Oftcc* of the Solicitors t. the Company. Applications for Shares must be made in the annexed form, accompanied by a deposit of 28 6d per share, which can be forwarded to the Bankers of the Company, or the Brokers, or the Secretary, nt the offices of the Com- pany, from any of whom full Prospectuses and forms of Application can be obtained.
