The present Directors will, however, be eligi- ble for re-election. SECRETARY Mr WALTER H. MORGAN, Solicitor, Pontvpridd. ENQIKKKR Mr DAVID MORGAN, C.E., Pontypridd. SOLICITOR Mr WALTER H. MORGAN, Pontvpridd. BANKERS THE LONDON AND PROVINCIAL BANK, Pontypridd. RROSPECTUS. This Company has been incorporated for the purpose of constructing a Line of Railway in the Treferig Valley, having Junctions with the Casteila Branch of the Ely Valley Railway (part, of the Great Western Railway System) and with the Llantrissant and Taff Va'e Jnuctioii Railway. The District whose requirements the Line is intended to meet is a virgin Coalfield, lying between the Ely and Rhondd., Vawr Valleys, ;,nd extendingfrom Glanmychydd to within a mile of the Village of Tonyrefail. At one of the Termini of the proposed Line, viz., on Glyn Farm, a Colliery has been already opened, in which N(,s. 1, 2, and 3 Uhondda Seams have been proved exceptionally good in character, and can be easily worked. The most eminent authorities on the Coal Fields of South Wales are unanimous in the opinion that this Valley contains all the Rhondda House and Steam Coal Measures, and that thc-e Measures are of such a quality as to command a ready sa'e for the output. The Line is only three niiles in length, and will be the means of opening a large number of different mineral properties, comprising an area exceeding 3.000 acres of valuable unworked Cual, representing an estimated quan- tity of above 200,000,000 t"ns. The physical conforma- tion of the district precludes any other outlet for this vast quantity of Coal bave the one afforded by the Tref.rig Valley, through which the proposed Line is intended to run The junctions of this Line with the Ely Valley Railway and the Llantrissant and Taff Vale Junction Railway enable the Coal to be speedily con- veyed to the nearest and bet mineral ports 111 the county. The result of the detailed survey is most favourable. No engineering difficulties present themselves, and the gradients are easy. Tke Engineei of the Company has for the purposes of the Act, estimated the cost of conetructi n and of the pur- chase of the land at £14,000. Since this estimate was made, however, the prices of labour and materials have substantially diminished, and the Directors de.-ire to ex- press their strong belief that 20 per cent may now be taken off to represent the cost at the current rulin" prices. b The Directors witili to draw attention to the fact that the to'l authorised by the Act to be charged fur the con- veyance of coal is lid per ton per mile, with a short dis- tanc clause of three miles, for all distances beyond h&'f a-mile, together with reasonable terminal charges (usually Id per ton at each terminus). As it is believed that all the collieries will be sunk at a greater distance than half a-mile from the junctions, it is anticipated that 4id per ton for tolls, and 2d for termina1 charges will be received upon substantially all the coal passin" over the Line. ° The Colliery already opened at Glvn will the Direc- tors are informed, be able, immediately the Line is completed, to produce a large output, and, taking 300 tons perdieinas the minimum quantity, the tolls and terminal charges on that alone tfould yield L2,535 per annum. Having regard to the fact that all the heaviest traffic will be outwaid, and that on a falliii' gradient requiring little locomotive power the Directors estimate that the working expenses will be very low, but even allowing 50 per cent (which is doubtless exces-i,-e), there would result from the traffic of this one Collierv a profit from which a dividend at the rate of £ 8 per cent could he declared, leaving a balance available for a re- serve fund. There is every prospect of this Colliery opening out extensive woikings, and employing a. large numb<rof hands, and the district only requires the facilities of railway communication to become an important and populous mining centre, consequently the financial suc- cess of the line may be considered as almost indisputabl v assured. The Act gives the Company the usual borrowing powers, of which the Directors do not think it will be necessary to avail tileiriselves also compulsory lowcrs for the purchase of laml, and other powers secured in the interests of the Company. The Directors have 110 hesitation in affirming that the undertaking presmts special attractive features of Its own, which will be the more sa'.isfai torily demon- strated the more rigorous the investigation to which they may be submitted. III summarising, the Directors have to point out that the Treferig Valley Railway is a short line through a valley practically a Maiden Coal-field. That it is con- nected with two important Railway Systems. That one Colliery already awaits meaus of transit for its out- put, and will itstlf be a fair source of revenue. That strong probabilities exist of other works opening. That a large population is likely to be aggregated in connec- tion with these works which will demand local trade and the faciiities of railway transit. That all these considerations, in themselves and their totality, mark the undertaking a3 possessing the strongest elements of commercial soundness and prospective success, and must command for the capital invested a lucrative source of income. For Prospectus, Plan of Line, and for any other infor- mation, apply to MR. WALTER H. MORGAN, Secretary, 44281 Treferig Yal c.y Railway Company, Pontypridd. s WANSEA, R A I-LBU Ult TITUST.
