GWYNORU Daviks. Abermaw, Medi 5. From Sir li'ibert B. Simpson- 10, Alibyn Place, Edinburgh, Sept. 2, 191^. Dear Mr. Davies,—I have just learnlôd the sad news, of the death of your Moderator, the Rev. Hugh Barrow Williams. I addressed a letter to him last week, sending him a copy of the Proceedings, and Debates of our last General Assembly, containing a Report of the speeches, by himself and his brother Deputy. I have no doubt that notices will be taken by the Commission of our Gen- eral Assembly, which meets, in Nov- ember, of the loss siustained by your Churdh. Did Mr. Williams leave a, widow and family ? Yours very truly, m R. R. SDIPSON. Copy- From the liar Robert Foryan, D.D. ,32, Garden Place, Aberdeen. 3rd Sept., 1919. Dear Mr. Davies,—It was with deep regret and much sympathy I read the announcement of the death of your Moderator, Rev. H. Harrow Wil,liams,. When he attended our General Assembly last May, I made his ac- quaintance and was greatly impressed by his zeal and earnestness., and by the eaiger interest he showed in our churchy and for all work for our common Master, and when I had the honour of visiting your General Assembly at Treorchy in June, as- Deputy from our United Eree Church Assembly, I gladly renewed acquaint- ance with Mr. Williams, and admired the ability and devotion with which he perfotjiied his, duties as Moderator. We little thought then that his, work n earth was so nearly ended. But God knows what is, beslt for his ser- vants, and has, said to Mr. Williams "Come up higher." Thi!sl is only a private note of sympathy, but I shall be glad if you wilil mention it to any of your brethren whonl I met at Tre- orchy. May I add that I greatly enjoyed my visit to. your Assembly, and cherish bright and grateful memories, of all the kindness. I received. Believe me, Ever yours sincerely, ROBERT FORGAN. GAIR 0 MALTA.
