Gentlemen,—I am thankful for the bottle of Gwilym Evans' Bitters" you sent me by your Bradford representa- tive. I have only taken a few good strongdoses, and I already feel 20 per cent, better, but having suffered from Ague for some months in India I do not expect it to work wonders at once. To-day, while dining in the town, two of my friends remarked that I was looking much better. I told them that the cause of it was my taking your Quinine Bitters," when a gentleman sitting opposite asked me the name of it. I was very pleased to tell him, and also where he could get it in Bradford. He has been suffering from Indigestion, and I hope Gwilym Evans' Bitters will do him as much good as it has done to me. With every wish for their success, I am, gentlemen, Yours faithfully, J. C. K. THOMAS. GWILYM EVANS' BITTERS THE BEST REMEDY OF THE AGE. K3T CAUTION. NVHO SAYS IT CAN'T BE DONE ? It cannot be done I tell you, sir, it cannot be done." This is the style of talk we are used to hear from a certain kind of people. They can scarcely be persuaded that the earth turns on its axis. Once a man wrote a book to prove that no steamer could ever carry coal enough to enable it to cross the Atlantic. Yet the first steamer that did cross chanced to have on board a copy of that verybook. "It is the unexpected that happens," say the French. Whoever denies the truth of a statement because he never heard the like of it before has no business to ride on an express or to send a telegram. All that ought to be done can be done, and Providence is all the time teaching us the way and the how. What was "impossible" 50 years ago is done everywhere to-day, and what even ten years ago would have been thought miraculous excites no remark. In three words, Why is this ? In twelve words you can have the reason, Man has learned to read new lessons front the manuscripts of God. For instance, who would once have believed this narrative ? It is a woman's own story, and we give it in her own language. "Forty-one years ago," she says, just after the birth of my third child, I was taken with great pain in the lower part of my right side. It began with a pricking burning sensation, which every now and again seemed to shoot through my stomach. By- and-bye I noticed a swelling forming, which gradually grew larger. This frightened me and I saw a doctor, who said in case it grew no larger it would not harm me. But it did grow, and I went from one doctor to another to see if any- thing could be done. At last I went to the London Hospital and attended as an out-door patient for twentyyears, from 1850 to 1870. All the doctors who saw me said there was a substance that would have to be burnt but my husband would not consent, and I went on suffering year after year. In 1872 the swelling had got so big that a. specialist who saw it advised me to go in Guy's Hospital. There they refused to operate, saying it was no use. By this time the swelling was so heavy that I supported it a while with long nap- kins, and then got an abdominal belt. At Guy's Hospital they took great interest in my case, and explained it to the sudents. They gave me medi- cine and plenty of nourishment, but after nine weeks discharged me as incurable. During that time I saw many poor creatures carried out dead, which was a dreadful and depressing spectacle. When I got back home I had to take to my bed, and lay there nearly five years. All this long and terrible time I had a gnawing pain at my stomach, which the doctor said might be caused by tapeworm. I was often in great agony, and could not even lift a cup to my mouth or turn in bed. In the autumn of 1880 a book was left at our house that told of a medicine called Mother Seigel's Curative Syrup, and a neighbour who came in to see me spoke so well of the medicine that I concluded to try it to see if it would rid me of the tapeworm. I never thought it would relieve me of the swelling, for I believed that was a tumour and must surely kill me in time. Well, after I had taken two bottle a large worm of some kind came from me. The hungry craving, which no food had ever satisfied, then ceased, and I felt stronger. Then I fancied the medicine eased the swelling, and so I kept on with it, and after a while it burst, and a great quantity of corruption came away. During the time I was using Mother Seigel's Syrup, my husband, daughter, and friends kept saying the Syrup would kill me, but I felt it was doing me good, and I persevered with it, and I thank the Lord that I did so. At last I was able to put my feet on the floor. How wonderful this was you will understand whenti say that previously I had been lifted in and out of bed, so perfectly helpless was I. "The improvement went on, and I was able to be taken out in an invalid chair, and since then I have never looked behind me. I am now in such excellent health that I do my own house- work, and walk out with ease and pleasure, I am now 67 years old, and feel better than since I was a girl. My friends say I look younger thwi I did twenty years ago. This medicine, Seigel'sSyrup, no doubt saved my life, and I want the whole world to know of it. (Signed) CAROLINE BOND, 8, Lombard-street, Mile End New Town, London." Only a word of comment on this striking case is called for. Internal swellings or tumours are of many varieties. What kind of tumour (if any) afflicted Mrs Bond we do not pretend to say; but one thing we must not forget, that all such growths are caused by impure blood, and this, in its turn, is caused by chronic indigestion and dyspepsia, or by constipation, which is too com- mon among; women. The Syrup stimulated the liver to action, purified the blood, inceased the secretions, stopped the supply of foul matter which produced the swelling, and thus relieved the good lady of her painful bodily tenant; and, in doing this, it proves for the thousandth time its superiority and power over all subtle and obscure diseases. The authenticity of this case cannot be dis- puted, as Mrs Bond is well-known in her neigh- bourhood, having lived ia her present house 29 years and her husband, the late Henry Bond, was a carpenter and joiner for 18 years in the employ of Mr W.
