THIS Company is formed for establishing Works for the mannfacture of Rails and Merchant Iron. The Provisional Committee have succeeded in securing for the company productive coal and iron mines in actual operation, and a large extent of valuable mineral property, on which there is a furnace erected, which will be in blast in two months. These Properties are situated in the midst of Iron Works, which are in the highest state of prosperity. At the present cost of raising the minerals, rails and bar iron can be manufactured, at the proposed Work, for £ 5. 5s. per ton, or less and there can be no doubt that the iron trade will long remain in its present prosperous condition, from the number of railroads now in execution and projected; the profits, therefore, of the proposed Company must be enormous. There is, in fact, every probability that the present healthy state of the iron trade will long continue, and for the reason that the old Mineral Districts of Great Britain are not capable of increasing their productions to any considerable extent, many of the celebrated mines m-Staffordshire being nearlv exhausted. Added to this, iron is now so largely applied, not only for railroads, but also to building, to naval architecture, and to such numerous other purposes, that it appears certain many years must elapse before the supply of iron can exceed the demand. At the present time, although the orders for the railroads, for which Bills have been obtained, and those for the foreign railroads now in execution, have not come into the market, yet all the large stocks of iron have been consumed. The price of merchant Iron is now firm, at 18. per ton, and when it is considered that every twelve miles of the ordinary railroad, or eight miles of that on the atmospheric system, will absorb more than one blast furnace will produce in a year, it may be fairly estimated that there will be a further and extensive rise in the price of that metal. The Committee have pleasure in stating that such is the con- fidence of the vendors in the undertaking, that they have signified their intention of connecting themselves with this company, by taking, in shares, a considerable amount of the purchase money. The Provisional Committee refrain from giving any particular estimate of profits, as such must, in a great degree, depend on the state of the iron trade from reports of the engineers and mineral surveyors, however, it would appear that should the price of bar iron fall, even as low as five guineas per ton, yet a profit of twelve per cent. might still be relied on. The Company will be registered under the Joint Stock Registration Act, which virtually limits the liability of each shareholder to the amount of his shares. The first call of £ 2., after the legal deposit, will be payable immediately on the complete registration of the Company, in conformity with 7th and 8th Vic., cap. 110. It is not anticipated that more than Lio. per share will be required, and no calls will be made at shorter intervals than four months, and in sums not exceeding jE2. per share. The plans of the property and the reports of the engineers and mineral surveyors may be examined at the Offices of the Company. James, Esq., 5, Basinghall-street, London Bankers. Commercial Bank, London. National Provincial Bank, Bridgend and Cardiff. Messrs. Towgood and Co., Cardiff. Engineer. Charles Edward Bernard, Esq. Secretary John Petherick, Esq., pro. tem. THIS Railway is projected for the purpose of uniting the ■Rhondda and Ely Valleys with the South Wales Railway, at a few miles distance from the port of Cardiff; and to open a new mineral district, one of the richest and most important in bouth Wales, which is at present without the means of transit for its immense and valuable products. It will pass through the central portion of the Great Coal Field of Glamorganshire, where iron-stone also abounds with the coal in immense quantities, and lying, geologically speak- ing, nearly flat, and obtainable, for the most part, by proper levels. The coal, in addition to its being of excellent quality for iron making, as is proved at Merthyr and Aberdare, is also, like that of those districts, of the very best description for steam purposes, being nearly smokeless, although inflammable, indeed so pre-eminently is the superiority of this description of coal established for steam purposes over any other, that the demand for it far exceeds the supply, and promises, according to the opinion of most eminent marine engineers, to supersede all others for purposes of steam navigation. This source of traffic alone will afford a handsome return for the capital in- vested, as has been demonstrated in every instance where even tram-roaifti or canals have been constructed to open the mineral resources of other less promising vallies in Wales than the Rhondda, which is celebrated for the abundance, quality, and facility ot obtaining its productions. An inexhaustible supply of limestone (so necessary for the manufacture of iron, and agricultural purposes) may be ob- tained by means of this Railway, much nearer and cheaper than by any other line. This line will afford to the increasing population of the rich Vales of Ely and Rhondda a much desired communication with the great market town and port of Cardiff, from whence, at present, they may be said to be almost excluded. It is intended that the line shall commence at Blaen Rhondda, (the head of the Rhondda Valley,) and proceed down by a natural pass between the hills at Ffiwd Amws, a distance of eight miles, where it will enter the Ely Valley and proceed down (a further distance of six miles) to Larielay Bridge, near Lantrissent, and there join the South Wales Railway, thus opening a communication under the most advantageous cir- cumstances, as to distance, with all the ports in the Bristol hannel. A preliminary survey has already been made by competent parties, and it is found that the country admits of highly fa- vourable gradients, so much so that it is confidently anticipated that the works will be executed very considerably under the advertised capital. The landowners along the line are favourable to this under- taking, and the names of many influential proprietors will be found on the provisional committee. No subscriber will be answerable beyond the amount of his deposit until the Act is obtained, and then not beyond the amount of his subscription. Until an Act of Parliament shall be obtained, the affairs of this company shall be under the control of the managing di- rectors, to whom power is given to allot the shares, and to apply the funds of the company in payment of all the expenses incurred in its formation, and in the preparation of the plans and sections to be submitted to parliament. Power will be applied for in the Act (and in the meantime is hereby given to the managing directors as above,) to raise any additional capital, to extend or abandon any part of the line, to make branch lines, or enter into any arrangements, by amal- gamation or otherwise, with any other company or companies, and also to nominate the first Directors of the Company. In the allotment of shares a preference will be given to land- owners on the line, and other parties locally interested. Prospectuses and Maps may be had of, aud applications for shares may be addressed, in the form annexed, to, W. B. James, Esq., solicitor, 5, Basinghall-street, London; to W. Morgan, Esq., solicitor, Bridgend, Glamorganshire; and to the undermentioned brokers; but no applications for shares will receive the attention of the committee unless accompanied by a reference to one or more of the provisional committee, solicitors, or the engineers:- London-Messrs. The public need not be told, that in an incredibly short time, the Railway Bell has won for itsell a circulation un. parallelled in Railway journalism. Conscious that itis now in- contestably at the head of that important division of the public piess, and elate wiih the solid proofs we are weekly reeving, that the large investments iequ;red by the novelty and boldness of our literary enttvprise are being a hundred-fold lepaid, we have felt encouraged io proceed in that career of daring improve- ment which has made our journal the faithful minor of the pro- gress of the times, and have determined on an aciot grateful ge- ti nerosity to our readers, only parallelled in character by the ex- tent of our achievements. We have, therefore, to announce, that the proprietors of The Railway Bell give, on and after the 4th of October nex', grattiitotwsiy, to every Annual Subscriber, A MAüNIFlCENT TERRF.STRIAL GLOB, as a memento of their journal's circulation, and monument of us startling sucess. THREE CAPITAL FREEHOLD FARMS, Together 330 ACRES of EXCELLENT LAND, let to re- sponsible tenants. MR. GEORGE ROBINS is instructed to announce for PUBLIC SALE, at the AUCTION MART, London, on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, at Twelve o'clock, in Three Lots, A very Desirable Freehold Property, Presenting n most inviting opportunity for the inve-tmeot of capital UPON SOLID SECURITY INDEED. IT PRE- SENTS A REFRESHING CONTRAST. AND IS ONE VERY MUCH AT VARIANCE WITH THE OVER- WHELMING, ALTHOUGH PLAUSIBLE SCHEME.S WITH WHICH THIS COUNTRY IS AT PRESEN r AFFLICTED. It comprises THREE CAPITAL FREEHOLD FARMS (ONE A DAIRY FARM), ALTOGETHER 330 ACRES OF VERY SUPERIOR LAND, close to the MARKET TOWNS OF USK AND MONMOL'IH, and let to highly responsible tenants, at rents pioducin- about FOUR HUNDRED POUNDS A YEA R. These Estates have long become a prominent feature in this vicinity. They are situate in the most beautiful county in Fmgland, and at the same time, the most independent one, as it possesses within itself the necessary supplies for all human enjoyment. The rivers abound in salmon, trout, and other de- licious fish the woods and hills with every variety cf game, not forgetting woodcocks (now just coming in) and grouse and the verdant pastures feed the finest breed of cattle and sheep; thus yielding, with the produce of the fertile tillage land, and the luxuriant orchards and gardens seen in every direction in this highly-favoured county, a plentiful supply for the gas tronomic wants of the most fastidious gourmand. Then we have every variety of forest-trees—oak, elm, ash. &c., in pro- fusion and an equal variety of native minerals in the bosom of the earth, not forgetting those most useful ones of iron, tin, coal, and limestone, and a little mine of gold for the fortunate purchasers of these desirable estates. Again, in no county in England can the native scenery be surpassed in variety and loveliness—hill and dale wood and water, all together form in every point of view, an ensemble, in the happy arrangement of which Dame Nature may be truly said to have exhausted her most consummate skill, and if possible, almost to have surpassed herself. Indeed, the timid hand that directs this unpretending and imperfect panegyric, feels at a loss how to describe, in suffi- ciently glowing colours, this charming locality and to those who desire duly to appreciate it, a personal inspection becomes imperative, and can alone suffice. To this end it may be added that railway communication will very shortly bring this county within five hours ride of London thus enabling the opulent, but care-worn citizen, to resuscitate his constitution, and breathe a little fresh air, in the luxuriant valleys and healthy uplands of Moniiiotithsilire.. THE LANGEVIEVV FARM, OF 202 ACRES, is of excellent arable, meadow, and pasture land, within a mile of the town of Usk, with a farm-house, and all necessary build ings, in the occupation of Mrs. Jane Blower, at a clear yearly reiit of E244.
