Gentlemen.-I think it only tati to mention that a man named Scanlon, residing in Sligo, porter to the Bianconi < ar. on pui- chasing a box of your pills, declared to me that for the last eight years he has suffered seveiely from a bad stomach, no food resting on it, and swelling often existing, and that atter finishing one box, at Is. SiRs,—I beg to thank, and inform you of the wond< ful effect of your PAHB'S LIFE PILLS. I was long subject to shortness of breath, with cough, &c., but after taking your pills a short time, I am not only cured, but feel quite young again, and, although an old man of 60, 1 feel so much better that I think I shall live to be ninety, at least, If you think this will be of service, you are quite welcome to print it. Yours, with mueh lespect, PETER MURPHY. To the Ploprietnls of Parr's Life Pills. From Mr. W. Alexander, Bookseller, Yarmouth. Great Yarmouth. March 27,1845. GEKTHMEM,—Being recently at Norwich, I called upon a gentleman at his request. He said, 1 had been very unwell for two or three years, my stomach much out of order, and con- stantly felt a difficulty in breathing; I empl yed two medical gentlemen, and took it great quantity of medicine, bu. deiived no benefit; on the contrary, I found myself dailv declining and getting weaker, so that I could scarcely walk from one street to another; indeed I was in a melancholy desponding state. Ac. cordingly I p rchased a box, and took them as directed. At the end ol a week I was much better, having taken, I think, only eighteen pitts. consequent y, 1 conunu d taking them regularly, and when I had taken two boxes and a half 1 became quite wel) and to this day I have enjoyed life, having now good health and good spirits. If. however, I feel any slight indisposition, I have recourse to the medicine I have so much reason to prize which restores me to my ubudl good health. This gentleman wished his case to be made public, although, for obvious reasons, he could not authorise me to give his name. This timid, perhaps in some cases, prudent, cautiousness, is not uncommon. A neighboring gentleman has several times ad- mitted to me that he derives great benefit from the occasi nal use of Pan's medicines, but will n-it permit me to mention it to any one. THE foilowin: Testimonials, with authenticate ca extraordinary cuie, are from the highest and most resoec- table authority Cod Liver Oil in cases nf Gout and Rheumatism. The diseases in which the Cod Liver Oil is attfnded with the most extraoidinary results, are GOUT and RHEUMATISM. It is rather a curiou s fact, and one ttiatftzlly es-ablisties the truth ofwhat we have already stated, that some yearsagrC^d Liver Oil was introduced into Manchester, by a celebrated German practi- ti ner, then on a visit to Dr Kay, Physician to the Manchester Infirmary, who was the first niedicalniin who prescribed this re medy for thecure ofGoutand Rheumatism in this countrv. Air. Darby, House-Surgeon and Apothecary to the same institution gave the following account of an extr.,ordinary cure: A woo man, who laboured under the most excruciating rheumatism being advised to rub herjoints with the oil, after a few weeks was' -estored to the use of her limbs, and was cured." Encouraged by this extraordinary cure, Dr Kay continued to prescribe it lor other patients in similar cases, and with 'he same success. Dr. Bardsley, also when heating of chronic rheumatism, observes. In instances, when every other means have tailed' Cod Liver Oil has operated in a manner, so uecidedly beneficial] I as to excite astonishment." The circumstances under which this specific remedy is found most advantageous, are the following —1st. In the chronic rheumatism of elderly persons, when the muscles and tendons have become rigid and the joints nearly inflexible, in conse- quence of the disease having been brou ht on by excessive labor, hard fate, dampness and cold. 2nd. ln women whose consti- tutions have been worn out by repeated iheumatic attacks, espe- cially in the decline 01 hte and patienls, who were unable either to preserve the body in an erect position orsuppoit its weight on the lower extremities, have rccoveted entirely by rub- bing the oi! on the affected parts. Dr. B)-Pfict,s () p,nion, 'u,ith cases of czzle Another celebiated physician, Dr. Brefidd, found the Oil of the greatest benefit in cases wlieie the (ToIut or Kheumatism appears to have seized upon the whole system, and uhen, as the result of lonu suffering, the body is wasted, the process of nulri- ti >n vety slow, there is a want of sleep, loss ol the vital powers languid expression of countenance, contraction of the muscles, Ac ,&<••; and mentions the following case of Mrs. Meatman, 30 years old, who had been confined to her bed or room and only in the warm summer months, experienced a slight allevia tion of her sufferings:—Nearly the whole body was attacked but principally the inferior extremities, back, and shoulders. Walking was er.tnely prevented by the insupportable pains, stiffaess, and swelling of the joints This patient was wasted, of a bleachy whiteness, and had lost all hope of relief, altliouuh originally of a strong and robust constitution The use of the Oil daily, was soon followed by a beneficial result and after some time she was restored to a tolerable state of health. '1 his person after this, was three years from, the time he saw her. erfectly healthy, well- ø ourished, blooming, and of robust ap peatatice. peaiatice. Cod Liver Oil in Old Age and Rigid Muscles Men'and women advanced in yeats, whose fibres may he sup- posed to have acquired a degree of rigidity, find surprising effects Irom the use of this remedy. Some who have been crlp. pies for many years, and not able to move from thcirseats, have, after a few week's use of it, been able to go with the assistance of a stick and by a long continuance have enjoyed the -atisfaction of being restored to the natural use of their limbs, which. for a long time before, had been a burthen to them. Dr Percival, of the Manchester Infiimary, say- I have had the fullest evidence of the successful use of Cod Liver Oil. and h-ive contrasted, by ex- periiuent, its value with other remedies; these trials always terminated In favour of the Oil; and patients who were under other treatment, by Conferring with their fellow-sufferers. were so sensible of making a slower progress towards recovery, as to require a change of one remedy for the other The above is only a small number of an immense number of Testimonials that have already been received in support of the extr.iordtnai y properties of this truly wonderful NATURAL REMEDY. Prospectuses, containing additional evidence of the value of Cod Liver Oil in other diseases, with general remarks on its Natural and Commercial History, its Physics and Chemical Properties, Action onthe Human Economy, &c. also par icular directions for its proper application, will be sent to any address on the receipt of two postage stamps. No Railway, either made, or being made, or projected, will serve the purposes which this imponant and tavoured line wiii ter e I lie country it will pass through possesses a population ex- ceeding 150,0JO. It leads to marine watering places, of much resort, Weymouth, Lyme, and Seaton, on the English Channel saore, and Linton Alinehead and Blue Anchor on the shore of die Bristol Channel. Taunton, which mav now be considered the county town of Somersetshire, has always been the market and trading town of the country north-west of it, including Watchet and its surrounding district; the usual route to which, from London, and the North, is through ) aunton. A well remunerating passenger traffic may nencfl beexpected. The country also conlaios bdwt!en"O and 100 Mills and Fac- tories, many of which are workeu by steam in aid of water- power, and many more of the proprietors will avail themselves of steam-power when coals shall be procurable at a reduced r e by this Railway. The Millers are most desirous of having the Markets of Snuth Wales opened to them. Several influential Lo-J proprietors of South W ales are Members of the Provisional Committee. The country also possesses several extensive Lime Quarries for manure; the lime is burnt with culm brought from Wal s* the conveyance both of the culm and lime is at present at- tended with much expense to the Agiiculturist. I he iiiie will also be of high importance to this Agricultural District by (lpen- ng to it the Markets of Tau.,ton, Tiverton, Bampton South Aloltou, Barnstaple, in the north ut Devon, hxeteraud London he lowns of 1 aunton, llminster, Chard, Cre«keme, Beamtui ster, Broad Windsor. I he ne will aiioid to those towns and their populous netah- hourhoods mcreased facilities of communication w th other lines ot Railroad The usual prevalence of westerly winds during the winter months, is so great, as to render the passage round the Lands1- end verv uncertain. The facilities offered by the proposed Rail- way will obviate such uncertainty save many hundred miles of dangerous sea passage, and more than compensate for the i-barges attending re-shipment at Bridport, f.om Watchet; particulaily In the article of Welsh coal, now in great demand in and a ho it London, for Steam Engines, Steam Boats, and other purposes. The Harbour of Bridport admits vessels, at spiing-ti ies, of 35 > tons burthen; receives large supplies ol Coals. Culm, Hax, Hemp, Baltic, and American l imber. The Harbour of Watchet, at spring- ides, admits vessels ot 200 tons bui then, and carries on an extensive and imponant daily trade with the po.ts of Tenby.
