CHARLES PROTHERO, Newport, 12th Sept., 1850. Clerk of the Peace. CURES FOR THE UNCURED HOLLOWAY'S OINTMENT. An extraordinary cure Evil. Extract of a Letter from Mr. J. H. Alliday, 209, High street, Chelten- ham, dated the 22nd January, 1850.—To Professor Holloway.—Sir,—My eldest son, when about three years ofafre, was afflicted with a Glandular Swelling in the neck, which after a short time broke out into an Ulcer. An eminent medical man pronounced it as a very bad case of Scrofula, and prescribed for a considerable time without effect. The di sease then tor 4 years went on gradually increasing in virulence, when besides the ulcer in the neck, another formed below the left knee, and a third under the eye, besides seven others on the left arm, with a tumour between the eyes, which was expected to break. During the whole of the time my suffer- ing boy had rec ived the constant advice of the most celebrated medicai gentlemen at Cheltenham, besides being for several months at the General Hospital, where one of the surgeons said that he would ampu- tate the left arm, but that the biood was so impim, that if that limb were taken off it would be then even impossible to subdue the disease. In this desperate state I determined to give your pills and ointment a TRIAI and alter two months perseverance in their use, the tumour gra- dually becan to disappear, and the discharge from a I the ulcers percep- tiblv decreased, and at the expiration of eight months they were per. feotiv healed, and the boy thoroughly restored to the blessings of health, to the astonishment of a large circle of acquaintances, who could testi.y to the truth of this miraculous case. Tnree years have now elapsed without any recurrence of the malady, and the boy .s now as heal hy hrart can wish. Under these circumstances J consider that I should be truly ungrateful were I not to make you acquainted with this wonderful cure, effected by your medicines alter every other means had failed. (Signed) J. H. ALLIDAY. Cure of Acute Rheumatism of four years'' standing. Extract of a Letter from Mr. John Pitt, Dudley, 19th Jan., 1850.— To Professor Holloway.—Sir,—It is with the greatest pleasure that I te to thank you for the benefit I have received from your pills and ointment, which have completely cured me of the rheumatism, under which I suffered for this last four years at times I was so bad AS hardly to be able to walk. I had tried every kind of medicine that was recom- mended, without receiving any benefit. I at last thought I would give your medicines a trial, and purchased from Mr. Hollin, chemist, of this town, two boxes of pills, and two of ointment, and in three weeks, through them and the blessing of God. I was restored to health and strength, and am now as well able to walk as ever I was in my life. I am well known in this parish, having been sixty-five years in it, with an exception of ten years I served in the24th regiment of foot. (Signed) JOHN PITT. Cure of a liad Leg of more than sixty standing. Mr. Barker, of No. 5, Graham's I'lace, Drypooi, near Hull, had ulcers on his leg from the age of eighteen until upwards of eighty, alld although for many years he had sought the first advice in the country, nothinc was found to cure them. He very often suffered most excrutiating pain for long periods together, which incapacitated him from attending to his business. He had given up all hopes of getting a cure, when at last lie was persuaded to try Holloway's Pills and Ointment, which he did and however wonderful it may appear, the leg was thoroughly healed by their means, and by continuing to use the pills aloneafter his leg WA well, he has become in health so hale and hearty as now to he inn S active than most men of fifty. LE~ N.B.—The truth of this extraordinary statement can be v«I, V for by Mr. J. C. Reinhardt, 22, Market Place, Hull. Each canister bears the seal and signature of Du Birry and Co. in full, with- out which none can be genuine, and the imitating of either is felony. IMPORTANT CAPTION.—Of late many ignorant persons, ac- tuated by cupidity alone, have attempted to foist upon the pub- lic, flour or powderof Lentils, in imitlltion of Du Barry's invalu- abteRevatenta Arabica Food (a Farina possessing the highest curative principles of any substances ever discovered, and of which Messrs. Du Barry and Co., are the sole proprietors and possessors). These imitative impostors have not hesitated to puff as curative that which (though unobjectionable as food when properly prepared,)possesses no more curative vIrtues than a piece of bread. Nor can they shew a single corative effect, whilst Du Barry's lievalenta Arabica Food has cured 50,000 persons of high respectability, even in cases where all other remedies bad failed, and all hopes of recovery were abandoned. But they in- variably refer to the Old Testament, as their great authority forgetting that the only reference there made to Lentils, is Esau's fiaud upon his brother Jacob; and the public is left 10 infer that these imitators, intent upon following Esau's example, wish to perpetrate a wholesale fraud upon invalids..There is nothing in the Old or New Testament to show that Lentils had been found useful as a curative agent: on the contrary, their use seems to have b 'en abandoned for upwards of 6,000 year*, aod justtyeo, as un' jss properly purified and prepared, as under the patent, thev a:> anything but wholesome, having according to the Pharmacol oei «. weakening effect on the digestive organs, the eyes and the kn.'os hence probably their abandonment. But as, in common with other more dangerous plants, th Lentil contains materials most valuable to man, great care has been taken by Messrs. Du Barfy and Co., under the Patent, to extract these, and prepare a purified and highly refined Farina, in conformity with long recognized physiological principles, su- perior to any ever before brought out, and which may be given as food even to the most delicate person or infant with petfect salety, in any quantity the patient or infant may require: as daily nourishment, or for breakfast and supper, it will be foand very useful. But, persons suffering from dyspepsia (indigestion) constipation, acidity, cramps, spasms, fits, heaitburn, diarrhoea, nervousness, biliousness, affections of the liver and kidneys, flatulency, distention, palpItation of the heart, nervous headache, deafness, noises in the head and ears, pains in almost every part of the body, chronic inflammation and ulceration of the stomach, eruptions on the skin, scrofula, scurvy, ague and other fevers, consumption, dropsy, rheumatism, gOllt, nausea, and vomiting during pregnane; after eating, or at sea, low spirits, spleen, general debility, exhaustion, paralysis, coughs, asthma, inquiet- ude, sleeplessness, involuntary blushing, tremors, dislike to so- ciety, unfitness for study, delusions, loss of memory, vertigo blood to the head, melancholy, groundless fear, indecision, wretchedness, thoughts of self-destruction, &c., should use Da Barry's Delicious Health Restoring Food, for Invalids and Infants. THE REVALENTA ARABICA, Discovered, exclusively grown, and imported by Du Barry and Co., 127, New Bond-street, London, sole owners of the Reva- ientt Estates, and of the patent machinery, by which alone the curative principles of the plant can be developed. This light, delicious breakfast Farina (without medicine of any kind, with- out inconvenience, and without expense, as it saves fifty times its cost in other remedies) speedily and permanently removes the above disorders. It never turns acid on the weakest stomach, nor interferes with a good fiboat diet, but imparts a healthy re- lish for lunch and dinner, and restores the faculty of digestion and nervous and muscular energy to the most enfeebled. Fifty thousand testimonials-some of which are given below, leave no doubt of us restorative virtues. Though a pure leguminous Farina it possesses all those delicate, curative, and stren«then- 109 properties which have been hitherto vainly sought for io medical Tonics; removing all irritability from the organs of d-gestion-the stomach, liver, and intestines-it renovates the whole system by supplying every part of the human frame—the muscles, nerves, boties, and blood-with wholesome nourishment it is a therapeutic agent of gentle, steady, but irresistible power boiled in water or otherwise, according to the direction. which accompany each canister, it developes healing, strengthening and renovating virtues never displayed by any other remedial agent.
