Cheddar, August 27, 1840 G FNTLE.VIKN,-Ill order that persons afflicted with Rheumatism mav know the means by which they can he cured, I send you the fol lowiug case:—For some years past I have been subject to the above distressing complaint, but I never fully knew its torments until the month of August, 183S, when from over-heating myself in reaping, and from want of due care in a short time the pains increased to such a degree as to make every little exertion in tlie day a misery, and at night to prevent me taking any rest. I entirely lost the use of one arm, aud my whole body, so to speak, was paralyzed with the malady. In this state, at the suggestion of a Kind friend, I was induced to try Simco's Gout and Rheumatic Pills, which I purchased of your Agent, Mr. Backhouse of Wells. and with gratitude 1 will ever acknowledge their value; for after I had taken two doses, I obtained sound sleep at night; and two small boxes, to the surprise of myself and friends, re stored me to robust health. I was in the full enjoyment of this blessing for about three months, when, from exposure to the weather, 1 got wet through, and this brought un the Rheumatic Gout again but this cir- cumstance, instead of diminishing has furnished another proof of the virtues of the Pills, for, by taking a few fresh doses, the disease was again removed, and I am happy to state that up to the present time 1 am perfectly free from the complaint. Fatal error Thousands arc annually either mercurialized out of existence, or their constutions so broken, and the functions of nature so impaired, as to lender the residue of life miserable. The disorder we have in view owes its fatal results either to neglect or ignorance. In the first stage it is always local, and easy to be extinguished by attend- ing to the directions fully pointed out in the Treatise, without the smallest injury to the constitution but when neglected or improperly treated, a mere local affection will be converted in to an incurable and fatal malady. What a pity that a young man, the hope of his country and the darling of his parents, should be snatched from all the prospects and enjoyments of life by the consequences of one unguarded moment, and by a disease which is not, in its own nature, fatal, and which never proves so if properly treated. It is a melancholy fact that thousands fall victims to this- horrid disease, owing to the unskillulness of illiterate men who by the use of that deadly poison, tilel,cury, ruin the con stitution. causing ulcerations, blotches on the head, face and body, dimness of sight, noise in the ears, deafness, obstinate gleets, nodes on the shin bones, ulcerated sore throat, diseasec nose, with nocturnal pains in the head and limbs, till at length a general debility of the constitution ensues, and a melancholy death puts a period to their dreadful suHerings. These pills are mild and effectual in their operation, without mercury or mineral, and require no restraint in diet, loss ol time, or hindrance from busines possessing the power of era- dicating every symptom of the disease in its worst stage, with- out the least exposure to the patient; they are particularly re- commended to be taken before persons enter into the matiimo- nial state, lest the indiscretions of a parent are the source Of vexation to him the remainder of his existence, by afflicting his innocent but unfortunate offspring with the evil eruptions of a malignant tendency and a variety of other complaints that ate most assuredly introduced by the same neglect and imprudence. It is only by purifying the vital stream from insiduous dis- ease, that the body can be preserved in health and vigour. Hence the infinite variety of complaints, an infected state of the blood induces, and hence the new and deceptive forms a tainted habits puts on, which often deceives the most eminent of the faculty, and baffle the best intentions towards a cure.
