RESULT IN MID-GLA- MORGAN. HUGE DECREASE IN MERTHYR POLL. TIM HEALY LOSES HIS SEAT. MORE UNIONIST GAINS. The election results on Friday (from. Thursday's pollings) were noteworthy for two Unionist gains—one at Altrincham (a handsome one) and the other at Darwen, And a Liberal gain at Louth (Lanes.) In the Merthyr result the outstanding feature is the huge falling off in the polling—due, of coarse, to the strike trouble-but in Mid. Glamorgan the success of Mr. Hugh Ed- *rards, the Liberal nominee, over Mr Vernon tiartshom, the Labour candidate, occasioned little surprise.
