Mr Millar (deputy town-clerk) applied te have the fact recorded on tll. minute book of the Swansea Poheo-court 011 Monday that; nOLicea bad been served on Messrs | j E. Swash and David E. Jones, 'owners of certain property at the back of Brynymor-road to carry out certain work subject to the approval of the Swansea Corporation under the Act of 1889, Motioul22. The notices served on Mr Swash had been obeyed and his plans wpprofed but in the ease of Air Jones the work had not been executed, and tho time had arrived for him to make any objection to proceeding with the work. Mr Jones not having atiended the court, Mr Millar applied for an order fer the necessary work to be carried out promptly. With regard to certain properties in Meatbfiold road, Mr John Thomas and Mr C. V. Crabbe appeared as objectors, and the latter applied for an adjournment of the case so that Mr Lowe eould be called upon te give evidence afl to the purchase of the property- yr Crabbe's defence was that the whole of the work had been done prior to 1389.-Thc cases were adjourned for a week.

It is long time since so much German was he*trd at the Swansea Police-court as was spoken on Monet a v morning by two women, one of whom—Sarah Rosenwick. summoned Fanny Cohen for assaulting her in a rather violent fashion at Pentre Sstyll. on the 6th nlt. Both were married womeu. Air. W Smith appeared for the complainant. Mrs. Roi-enwr-h. whose evidence had to be interpreted from German into English, sa-idi that she was standing ou her own doorstep on the night in question, when the defendant ■aiiie up and seized her by the hair of her head. She then threw her down on the pave- incut with great violence, and as a result one of her ribe was broken, ami she had been ohlitred to go to the Swansea Hospital. Edgar Johns, schoolmaster, went into the box and corroborated the story of the com- Dr. Fox Edwards, said that he had examined Mrs Rosenwick at the Swansea Hospital, a.nd i-ji-nd that one of her ribs was broken, and that she had a bruise on her abdomen. She was also .suifering from weakness and exhaus- Hcvcral witnesses were called for the de- fence and their evidence showed that it was a general scrabble, in which both women were tn blame, and the Stipendiary, taking this view of the affair, the case was dismissed.

MUMBLES RAILWAY ACCIDENTS. BOARD OF TRADE WRITK AGAIN ABOUT THEM. TOWN COUNCIL IJSVlTE AN INQUIRY. An important letter from the Board of Trade, read at a rivent meeting of the Pro- perty and Markets Committee oi the Swansea County Council will be considered at Wednes- day's meeting of the Council. It called atten- tion to another accident that occuiTed recently on the line of the Swansea and Mumbles Rail- way, by which a. child named Annie Morton, receved injuries necessitating the amputation of one of her legs, which acident the Board are advised was principally due to the unprotected condition of the line. The Board also re- ferred to the correspondence which has taken place respecting the fencing o. the line. The Town-clerk wa:' instructed to request tho Board of Trade to direct that a local euquiry into the matter be held by one of their inspee- tors, to whch purpose the Corporation will afford every assistance and facility. I

SWANSEA HARBOUR TRUST. MONTHLY MEETING OF THE TRUSTEES. THE TKADE OF THE PORT. GItAIN IMPORTS JUMPING UP. The cufttoamrv monthly Meeting of the Swansea Harbour Trustees wac held this (Monday) morning al the Guild-ball. Tilole were present Mr A. Mason, who was voted 10 the chair, Alderman F. Bradford (mayor), ♦ ho Hon Aubrey Vivian, Messrs J. Clarko Rietaurdson, T. Elford, J. Giashrook, Griffith Thomas, J. Crow Richardson, lidward Stnck. F. H. Glyn-Priee, Thomas Freeman, J. M, Mayne, W- Evans; and Talfourd Strick. Mr Griffith Thomu, in moving the adoption Gf the Finiinee Committee's report, laid Ulat the common seal of the t'ru«it should be I affixed to stocks and certificates of the value of £516 in lieu of morteasos of £600 con- verted into stock, and to certificates for £14 for new investments, said that the trade for the month of June bad increased in iwports by ei"bt per cent. This increase wag Mad^up as follows: Iron ere; 1,333 tons pig iron, 6,824 tons; and grain, 5,611 tons. The total imports of grain amounted to 11,453 tons, whieh exeeeaed the record. (Hear, be.ir.) In the exports there had been a falling off of 4 per cent, which was almost exclusively made up of coal and patent fuel. The de- crease was 9,824 tons, which was more than accounted for by the falling off in the ship- ments of authracite coal. In the corre- sponding month of last year the greatest 011 record took place, namely 30,000 tons, lie might say that during this month there weMid be shipments of anthracite of between 112.<:OÖ and 15,000 tons. (Hear, hear). Re; believed that the trade was t:oing to revive. There had been some little difficulty in regard to coal shipments to Saa Francisco during the past six moot lis, but there were no prot- pects of the trade boiiu: lost. The work of the Harbour Trust during the month showed a profit of £737, as compared with £1,023 and the corresponding month of last year, I but they would see from reference to the aecooats that the revenues for the two months wero almost equal, viz., £ 11,000 in each month. An increase in payments could be accounted for, the iUJIl of £249 Having been paid for the new North Doek gate*. Mr J. M. Mayne seconded the motion, which was unanimously earned. The Chairman then moved the adoption of the report of the Executive Committro, the chief recommendation or which wus that about 50 tons of Kentledge ballast should bo purchased for the purposes of the North Dock lock bridge.
