They spread quickly, but Sergeant Dag-, and P.C:s Morris and David, assisted by a man named David WUliama, employed by the Oysteraieuth Disirict Council, were quickly on the seen." and set to work with the hose, and in about a quarter of an hour the outbreak was subdued. Another outbreak took place on Sunday afternoon, and was witnessed by the crowds who had gathered to look at tne ruins oi the hostelry. DROWNED AT LAN DORS. WOMAN'S BODY FOUND IN THE CANAL, On Sunday morning Police-cansta&le Bottom ley, stationed at Landore, was cnlied out shortly after seven o'clock by two men named William Beard, of 147, LJangytelach- rC:1tI, alld \Yru. Lan- dore, having been found 111 the canal under the bridge, naar the entrance to t'te Bottom Lode, Landore. The constable, on arriving there wiLh the ambulance, saw the body laying face downwards in the bottom ef the canal in about one foot ot water. There is generally 15ft. of water at the spot, but it had been let out on Saturday. With the assistance of several others the body was conveyed home. On washing the mud off the face the constable saw a large bruise on the left cheek bone under the eye, but it is probaole that this was caused by the fall.—M.ry Jane Teeidale, of No. 16, Pott ory-strect, ttated that she saw tho deceased about 11.20 1I,1fI. on Saturday night in i'ottery-strect, being apparently on her way home. On the body being searched, | there were found in the pockets, a purse containing a two shilling piece and twopence in coppers, a thimble, and a pint bottle of beer. The deceased was a married woman, and has a grown-up family. The spot where the body was found *& a very darii one, nest far from deceased's home.
