THE ONLY LOG THAT WILL SHOW A SHIP'S SPEED THROUGH THE WATER AT A GLANCE, AND WITHOUT TIMING. ON Steam Ships, where speed is desired, it will be. found of great value; for it has proved, in numerous trials, that diminished steam pressure has obtained as great a velocity as a considerably higher pressure; and it has thus effected an important saving in the consumption of coal and in the wear and tear of engines. It will show at a glance the effect on a ship's way of increase or decrease of canvass. It does the work of the reel-log with greater accuracy and without trouble.
